Chapter 29 - 29 – Determination

Those things bit the monster in several places but only intensified its flames. Azalea had tried to trap the creature's mouth so it wouldn't open, but she had trouble.

"Axel, what should we do!?" Bonnie was still trying to aim at the monster. "My ammo is running low, but this shit beast isn't showing any signs of losing yet!"

That creature spewed fire again, burning a good chunk of Azalea's forest.

"I hope you don't mind since this method might be painful," I warned.

"Whatever! Just say it!" Bonnie barely dodged the enemy's fourth burst of fire.

I gave her the instructions, and she took a deep breath, flew away, then used her thruster to its full potential.

The armored girl flew at high speed, ramming the monster's side and forcing it to collapse.

"Fuck!!!" Bonnie, having just landed hard on the ground, forced herself up. Meanwhile, Azalea continued to use her vines to restrain her enemy.

And that creature can still spit fire.

"Die, you wannabe dinosaurs!" Bonnie ejected her chainsaw in her right hand, then cut the monster's throat.

That creature was writhing like crazy, but Bonnie didn't care. Instead of widening the cut, she shoved her chainsaw deeper into the enemy's neck.

"Arrrgggghhh!!!"

Red blood splashed so much. The monster's roar weakened, and it didn't move before long.

Bonnie withdrew her arm with difficulty, dashed away, then knelt in her bloodstained armor.

"Can you give me aromatics, Az?" She grumbled. "This blood smell is disgusting."

Azalea moved the flowered tendrils near the tiny girl.

"Errr…." Bonnie rubbed her head. "I'm just kidding…. But I appreciate it. Thank you. Even under my helmet, I can smell their fragrance."

I hovered around the monster's corpse, ensuring there were no signs of life on that creature. After ensuring everything was safe, I returned to Azalea and Bonnie.

"You guys are great." The flora girl smiled, even though her eyes were filled with tears. "So far, I've only been able to drive this monster away and can't beat him. He always comes back with healed wounds."

From how she spoke, I guessed she had fought that monster many times. This means that many parts of her forest have been destroyed.

"Well, you don't need an army, Az." Bonnie rose to her feet. "Now, we… Ugh…."

She held her left shoulder, and I immediately checked her through the health monitoring device at her E.E.S.

"The joint in your right hand is loose…."

I haven't even finished talking yet; she has fixed the joint. Azalea was horrified to hear the terrible cracking sound.

"It's not the first time," Bonnie said casually.

Seriously? Is she really a pampered ex-daughter of a rich man? What kind of things had she seen that made her such a badass?

"You are amazing, Bonnie." Azalea wiped her tears, then looked at us in turn. "Once again, thank you both. My forest is safe…."

Azalea had not finished speaking when the rumbling echoed again. Yes, it's the same as the sound of footsteps from the dinosaur monster.

And this time, it's more than one.

I use my zoom feature to look into the distance.

"W-what happened?" Azalea's voice trembled again.

With reluctance, I responded. "There are a lot of dinosaur monsters coming here. Maybe dozens of them…. No, it's hundreds."

The flora girl's eyes widened. Her mouth opened, but no words came out.

Bonnie held the pink-haired girl by both shoulders. "I know it's hard, but you have to go with us. I can get you out of here as quickly as possible with my thruster."

Azalea closed her eyes while biting the corner of her lip so hard that it oozed blood. "No. I'll stay here. I will be with my children until the end."

"Please, listen to me." Bonnie was getting desperate. "You can start a new life elsewhere. It would be a waste for you to stay here."

Azalea's gaze became sharper. She passed Bonnie, ready to meet the monsters already visible in the distance.

"Thanks for your concern, Bonnie." She sobbed. "But you and Axel better get out of here. It's for your safety."

Damn it. I can't let her stay here. She is too precious to die against those monsters.

So, I gave one final instruction to Bonnie. The tiny girl looked at me and froze.

"Please, do it, Bonnie." I hissed.

Bonnie walked to Azalea from behind, but the tiny girl froze again.

Come on, Bonnie. This may be your last chance.

Azalea sighed, not looking at Bonnie or me. "I will not change my mind…."

Bonnie wrapped her arm around Azalea's neck from behind, making her choke hard. She tried to free herself but was helpless by Bonnie's metal arms.

Flowering tendrils nibbled Bonnie's E.E.S, but she was undeterred.

Azalea's arms went limp a moment later, and the flowers also stopped moving and released their bites.

She's not dead yet. I just ordered Bonnie to paralyze her.

"Bring her with us." I perched on Bonnie's shoulder, watching the monsters getting closer.

Bonnie then used her thruster to fly away from that place.
