Chapter 15 - Chapter Fifteen: God Of War

After that, he tried convincing himself that he truly loves her unconditionally. Rosalyn had given him a chance to be happy once again, and he left his life of killing and war.

He accepted his mortal body... "You know," he tightened his grip and looked at him. "You mortals aren't aware how powerful you are when it comes to freedom, Rosalyn would often tell me how unlucky I am. Rosalyn didn't have any fate to us Gods and Goddesses, so she didn't worship any of us but fate favors her."

She told him about being unlucky on the doorstep of being lucky, but Ares was neither, he wasn't happy with his immortal life—being surrounded with rules of what to do and not to do.

Trapped in a cage of immortality, it's like a never ending fate. Zeus wouldn't understand him, his Zeus, the father of all God's, understands that freedom is different from Zeus perspective.

"I wanted to become a mortal," he gulped. "But I wasn't allowed, how could a God like me can become a mortal like you?"

He still could remember his wife, they've spent their few first encounters as rivals, fighting for a title for the most highest rank mechant.

He giggled and looked down. Those memories had kept him alive until now, but sometimes his Godly hood affects his mortal memories, and could forget some part of those good memories.

"You know, I married her despite the warning I had from my father, he couldn't stop me neither my mother who was trying to separate me from her."

It's true that Hera has a vengeful side, however, as the cold war ended she changed drastically after that. Hera lost one of her children, Hebes, the Goddess of Youth who fought against Hercules and was defeated silently.

To her fear of losing more of her childrens, she stopped abusing the power given to her and accepted her faith as a wife of a God who would make many lovers in front and behind her back.

Although her silence didn't end her jealousy, she decided to wander off the Holy Land and persuaded many of the deities.

Her 'trying to forget' result in her first infidelity against her husband. It's a well known event where Zeus was so angry, he created ice rain. It's not your usual snow, it's more like ice falling off the roof as fast as it kills.

He tried convincing her wife, but Hera had enough of his affairs. She may have been loyal to him her entire marriage, and she became vengeful because of him but things have changed.

Hera lost her sweet child, and her son, Ares got himself cursed by her mother, Gaia, and that never ending misfortune made her realize that revenge will be her reason for death. She has seen Hercules do it, and it's not so often you'll think God and Goddesses die.

Although Hebes is the Goddess of Youth, she was young and she wanted to enjoy the life of mortality. In odds with her decision, she crosses paths with Hercules who took her life after betrayal.

Ares knew Hera very well, she's against anything that's too dangerous for her sons. Although Hera tried convincing Zeus to let Ares stay in the Holy Land, Zeus couldn't let Ares stay, as he became mortal.

Hera and Zeus have the toxic relationship ever heard about Olympus, it's not rare to see Hera's rage shooting out of nowhere. So hearing that her son, Ares would marry a mortal made her confused.

Why would she? He was one of the loyal God's in Olympus, he wouldn't even flutter at the beauty of Aphrodite, the Goddess of Beauty. So, how could a mortal who's not even as beautiful as Aphrodite could take his heart?

So she was against his marriage but didn't stop him. She accepted it as easily as she could, and sent them her blessing afterwards.

"Fate must have played that part," Caleb murmurs and he breathes out. "We mortals are being satisfied with things, our desires come from our own emotions, doesn't God have any of those? Then you are mostly as noble as mortals."

Ares laughed and he shook his head. "I would rather think of it as a normal conversation," the wind started getting louder and louder as a vivid—things? Or something was flying from the air. "Is that?" He pointed out at the distance flying object that is approaching there way.

Caleb looked at the thing Ares pointed out and he nodded. Even though the plane wasn't yet close enough for an eye to see, Ares has already seen it.

"Looks like they've made it," said Caleb.

"I am not sure how that thing works, it's not even made of Aria, and not flowing from the ways of Stigma."

It's not always that Ares gets to see a functional human—a mortal invention from science, so it shocks him deeply like a child who saw a flying plane for the first time.

He doesn't have a chance to see it, but now he'll get the hang of it. "Valkyrie would definitely expand your army," he mumbles.

Ares looked at him and he thought Caleb was one of his loyal people who gets very addicted to "praising" him or even doing something unnecessary for him. That's one of Caleb's particular portraits as a believer.

"The God of War is not a War God without an army," said Caleb and smiled.

True to be told, due to those misunderstood rumors, Ares loses part of his reputation and his army. As a God of War, he spent his time being the War God he used to be praised off. He might not be as powerful as Athena, who is said to have extraordinary strength, the God of War is the strongest God in the battlefield.

He had the blessing of Zeus, Hera, Demeter, Poseidon, Histia, and even Hades—the God of Tartarus who led Athena to darkness. With his brute strength, and his blessings, he was able to overthrow the rampant Athena in the underworld.

Or so many believe.

So, a God of War without an army is a futile joke!

"You sounded like Demeter, who would often insult my lack of 'God of War' persona."

Caleb giggles at Ares sense of humor. Although it's not the funniest, Ares is improving better than his formal 'serious' self.

He remembers about Rosalyn's death, it was a few years back before Athena's appearance, Rosalyn was expecting that time, so she's carrying a demigod inside of her, one day when Ares went back to Olympus to face his father.

A servant from Tartarus who was loyal to Athena broke into Rosalyn's house and tried to kill her, but they all failed—only that moment, the next attack was after she gave birth to a child. She was too weak to defend herself, much more her child.

So she hid her child in a secret compartment below her house and confronted the returning servants alone. Fighting until the last of her breath, Ares wasn't there as well, he went to inform his father and mother of the child he had.

The next thing he knew—tragic appears. He lost his wife Rosalyn, and his daughter's life was in danger of being hunted by Athena's little minions. It was an inevitable fate that even Moirai can't change.

After that he decided to send his daughter to another world away from Athena's reach. That said, his decision caused one incident—an incident which made his daughter suffer.

This God in front of him—was the most pitiful God he had ever seen.

"In that sense, can we meet Saint Freya as soon as possible?" Ares asked.

"I've been looking for since last week, I've yet to confirm her location or where she is. It's hard to tell since Freya had concealed her presence, and the only thing I can do to find her is through manual labor, and I mean labor, I'll have to manually ask for her around this continent. So, no, we can't meet her as soon as possible, it will probably take me 3-9 months."

Caleb couldn't find her anywhere, using his ability or even when he's not using it. Freya is known to have the best way of hiding herself, the last time he found her was 40 years ago, and he spent his entire one year looking for her whereabouts.

She's not your usual normal saint. She likes to hide her identity and live a normal life. She often hides herself as a priestess, or a government office lady. Her many identities are considered as the fairy from the forest, or the waitress with an extraordinary ability.

It's hard to look for her even through normal means. She's your typical Saint who doesn't value her Saint title.

It took Caleb one year looking for her whereabouts, because once she got visitors, she'll leave immediately and once she gets exposed, she disappears.

"Freya doesn't seem to want any attention, but since she's been doing that same 'moving out' process, it's hard to tell where she's going or who's with her. Even Zeus was having a hard time looking for her."

That's true, but what did he mean looking for her? Caleb looked at Ares confused, did Freya get chosen as one of Zeus lovers?

His confused face made it obvious for what he wanted to ask, and Ares shook his head. "His not making her a lover, he wanted to appoint her as the newest healer of Myrnn Academy."

Unfortunately she's not been found. "Ah, she hated teaching students, it's not the most promising ever announced."
