The Ghoul ran towards Taniwha, as it charged towards him he loosed an arrow. The arrow struck its target but did nothing, the ghoul remained unfazed and continued forward. Taniwha was cornered, he knew and so did the ghoul, he shot another arrow but this time he missed.
"Dammit"
Desperate, Taniwha looked for anyway out. The only escape was up towards the rooftops, so he climbed. The ghoul roared below him as he climbed, he got to the rooftop and breathed a deep sigh. He quickly began running across rooftops once more, trying to find his comrades. Pain shot up his leg as he jumped over an alleyway, he landed on the next roof and rolled. He checked his leg to find it covered in blood, marks like daggers lined his calf, he turned to the alley he just jumped over.
There a grey hand with bloody sharp nails grabbed onto the roof, the moons light showed the ghouls true figure. A grey sunken face, long sharp nails like blades and eyes that had a never ending darkness to them. It seemed to smile at Taniwha, a predator happy to see a terrified bleeding prey. Taniwha tried to move but found he couldn't, fear fully sinking into Taniwha as he realized why.
"Paralysis" he thought
Ghouls were not just hard to kill because of their unnatural healing and their tolerance to pain, but also because they could paralyze their opponents using their claws. Very few were able to be caught off guard by a ghoul and live to tell about it. The ghouls footsteps were heavy on the roof, it stood above him. It stood their motionless watching for anymore signs of movement.
"Its wondering if it needs to attack again"
Taniwha waited, the ghoul stood above him for a minute before it finally decided. It crouched down and grabbed Taniwha by the legs, it began dragging him across the rooftop back to the alleyway it attacked him from. Taniwha grit his teeth, with adrenaline pumping he willed himself to move. To his surprise and the ghouls he was able to move again, he quickly got out of the ghouls grip and began running.
He sprinted, he knew he had to get away while he could. As he landed on the next rooftop however fear took hold of him again, a loud thud sounded soon after he had landed on the rooftop, it had followed. However in the distance Taniwha noticed the next rooftop was where Heizenburg was, once he jumped he could work with Heizenburg to kill the ghoul.
"Almost there, one more jump" Taniwha puffed.
Taniwha, with freedom in sight, jumped. His feet left the roof, the cold greeted him as he sailed through the air. A cold hand wrapped around his throat, Taniwha remained hanging in the air with a hand around his throat. With a struggling breath he called out.
"HEIZENBURG!!!"
