Chi Lian was hopelessly puzzled. She had considered many women to be her rivals when it came to Muyang's affection but she never considered her own daughter.
"You." She pinched Mei-Mei's cheek. "Are you my beloved daughter or my co-wife?" she asked playfully.
Right on cue, Mei-Mei cried and looked Muyang pitifully.
"There, there, mummy is bad." Muyang said as he cuddled Mei-Mei and comforted her.
"Eh," she looked at Muyang in wonder. Was he throwing her under the bus to make his daughter happy? "What do you mean by mummy is bad?"
"Mummy is making Mei-Mei cry, who is a bad mummy?" Muyang continued talking to Mei-Mei childishly and playfully, ignoring the betrayed and outraged look on Chi Lian's face.
Everyone at the table was laughing at her expense.
