She watched the little hope in the girl's eyes die out like the last dying embers in a fire place. But she had had to be upfront with her. She was not in the habit of taking in useless people, if the girl was nothing but another mouth to feed and body to protect, then all she was doing was adding to her workload.
"Ha-ha," the girl laughed hopelessly, "I don't know what I was thinking. Why else would you want me if not for me to do your dirty work." She said, her voice laced with bitter sarcasm.
