Quickly, before the door could be forced open, Chi Lian pulled off her cargo pants and wrapped an old bedsheet around herself. She then lay down and Wuxi's grandmother proceeded to wipe the fake blood off her leg and bandage it.
"Chief, my grandma said no one should disturb her when she is treating the patient." Wuxi continued to parrot the lines he had been told.
"Shove him out of the way and break down that door if you must." The chief ordered.
Wuxi's grandma stood up and pushed the door open herself.
"Why are you all trying to force yourselves inside? Have I ever let people walk in when I was treating one of you?" she asked bravely.
"We just want to see if the stranger has left." the chief informed her. "You know how dangerous it can be in this place for strangers." His words sounded polite but they held a hint of a warning.
"The young lady is inside, I have finished patching her up and she is sleeping."
