After the war with humans and demons. The true hero story is never told, only a cheap imitation of the real events lying for the next generation. For what could have happened to make the true story lost? Who else would know other than me.
Since the start of the war, humans were always meant to lose. A story where demons ruled the world. Until the first deal was struck for a foolish woman to save a tragic story from collapsing. If I remember right, she's the lover of Nol.
The center of the world or said to be. What lies there is a thriving kingdom where most of the people learning the world are from. Ever since it grew faster and stronger than any kingdom. Where daily life was perfected to comfort, and endless fight was gone. The King was a special someone who brought immense knowledge and advanced humanity faster than possible.
Somewhere in the giant city, Nol and Warren are looking for Asher.
"Where the hell did that dumbass wander now?" Nol cursed out.
Warren stayed silent in the hope of not annoying Nol any further.
The busy street and harsh weather took its toll on hungover Nol. Having drunk all night in the mid age of 50ths would bring anyone to their knees, but stubbornness brought him this far. What's a little extra work would do?
"That son of a bitch making us do all this work. It better be worth it!" Screamed out of Nol. Drawing eyes towards him. Embarrassed Warren brought Nol aside to sit down.
Warren waddled in the shops to get refreshments for both. As Nol sat down reminiscing about the past in the grander adventure and displeasure of once a foolish young man.
Seeing life and joy still feels good even if the world doesn't remember.
"Nol here have a drin--." Warren stops mid-sentence after Nol jumped up.
"Let's have a spar again but a proper one!" yelled Nol.
"Anyways, why choose me as your mentor? Was it fate or something?" asked Nol.
"I don't know either. Maybe just intuition…" mumbled Warren.
"Well, let's get to moving." Nol Motion for Warren to follow. "Does it have to do with it?" Nol thought.
Among the various shops and housing of the kingdom. Small areas for trees and walkways were made for the people. In these areas, a platform for people to duel was made.
Within the same day, Nol and Warren are back to fighting. All the while Asher is lost in the city.
"We'll fight till you can't move!" Yelled Nol.
"Fine by me, sir." replied Warren.
Both used the blade at their hips for the mock fight. Then they walked on the platform, Nol rushed at Warren.
This Warren was ready and the look in his eyes changed. His whole demeanor changed.
Nol lashed out in a barrage of attack. Each strike was precise and heavy, leaving Warren's hand shaking each time the swords connected. Most blows struck the body, leaving painful bruises. Given the condition of Nol's blade he kept hitting Warren.
The laughable attempt is closer to struggle than a fight.
Nol had a frightening glare while fighting. Those cold and sorrowful eyes blend deep while fighting.
Warren, being a novice, lacked the proper movement and swordsmanship to keep up thus the blows piled on.
The battles continued till Warren fell off the platform of the constant attack that brought him to the ground.
By the evening breeze, Warrens arms battered and hardly attempted to hold on to the blade. Legs barely supported his weight. With it, all violent pain surged through his body with every swing. Though, the body falters, his mind doesn't. Perseverance and determination aren't enough.
"You're weak, why do you continue?" asked Nol. "What's with the empty ambition?" He continued
Warren's world was distorting, and he began to wobble, unable to stand still. The human body does have limits.
"Take a break, if will power was enough to stay, maybe they would have seen the next day."
Right there in the fading sun was a somber smile from Warren. As his legs gave out and muscles relaxed, he began to fall.
Nol's faded memory over lapped Warren. It should be gone but it's better if he remembers. The anguish of a forgotten memory plagues Nol with regret. Nol tries to reach but it's too late to help.
Warren laid dumbfounded as Nol reached out when he was on the ground.
Just like that it was gone. It was a melancholy moment for Nol with woeful silence.
"Gone yet again." Nol whispered under his breath.
"Um-m can I have some help please?" Muttered Warren.
Reality caught up to Nol, bringing him out of a distant past. Finally, acknowledging Warren unfortunate circumstances.
Nol peered down at Warren who is unable to move with muscles too tired to work. They both shared an awkward silence as they didn't know what to say. The cold and harsh Nol came back.
"Good job, but you still have improvements to do." said Nol "That can be fixed easily." Nol added with arms crossed the chest.
Warrens stayed motion less accompanied with a black stare. Nol walked to check on him and found he had fallen asleep on the hard platform.
Nol thought about punching him awake instead of that, he started walking away to the bench.
By dusk lanterns were used to brighten up the darkness of night. Busy streets full of noise began to die down with shops closing and people going home.
By some miracle Asher found his way towards Nol. Stargazing the gleaming shining sky full of beauty and wonder. Warren lying face down towards the ground.
Asher tried to walk away knowing Nol would be mad.
"Where do you think you're going? Don't you have something to tell me?" Asked threateningly of Nol.
"Try and run away now and I'll beat you with my sword." Though he was saying it calmly, Asher was fearful of Nol. Asher had an audible gulp. Nonetheless scurry his way to Nol, pretending nothing happened.
As both men sat on the bench, the tone shifted. Asher wasn't the jolly giant anymore. It turned serious and Nol broke the silence.
"So, what's the favor?" asked Nol.
"How's the kid, to your liking?" Replied Asher.
Nol turned to Asher's shit eating grin. Then grabbed Asher chest plate and threaten to punch him.
"Don't tell this was all part of some joke?" Furiously said Nol. Still holding on to Asher with hand curled up to a fist.
"Sorry, sorry I was trying to fix the serious atmosphere." smirked Asher.
"Seriously though that kid also went to the knight guild asking desperately." continued Asher.
"The kid was desperate for something. Be it power or money, but his ambition was clear not right for a knight."
Though more information was given it only made Warren more confused. Nol and Asher stared at Warren lying on the ground. Unable to think what to do next.
