Chapter 45 - Goblin Village

Charles stood alone in the forest, surrounded by a group of goblins.

Gonlin A: "Look at this little human! All alone and defenceless. We'll make quick work of you!"

Goblin B: "Yeah, let's have some fun with him before we finish him off!"

Sweat was dripping from his forehead, he was exhausted as he had just finished killing a group of goblins and now another one appeared.

"Fu*king Goblins!!!" Charles cursed at the goblins, "Why can't you give a second to rest?!"

Even though Charles didn't understand what the goblins were talking about, he was just frustrated, hearing the same language again and again.

Charles bent slightly to dodge the crude weapon thrown by one of the goblins.

Goblin D: "He's more resilient than we thought! Get him, brothers!"

All the goblins positioned themselves, surrounding Charles from all directions.

"Just watch me, you overgrown rats!" Charles exclaimed as he launched at them.

He aimed for vulnerable spots, striking swiftly and efficiently. The goblins fought back with fury, their numbers working against him.

"Is that all you've got? You'll have to do better than that!"

As the battle raged on, Charles's body bore the brunt of the goblins' attacks. Bruises formed, and his energy waned, but he refused to let it break his spirit.

Goblin E: "He's tiring! Finish him!"

"Not...yet!"

Charles pushed through the exhaustion, relying on his instincts and sheer determination. Blow after blow, he fought his way through the relentless onslaught, slowly but surely thinning their numbers.

Goblin F: "Impossible! How is he still standing?"

Finally, the last goblin fell to the ground, defeated. He stood amidst the fallen foes, panting heavily, his body battered and worn.

Huff-Puff

Taking a moment to catch his breath, Charles reached into his bag and retrieved a small bottle containing a blue liquid.

He uncorked it and drank the contents, feeling the revitalizing effects surge through his body.

"If it weren't for this, I would have died ages ago."

The liquid that Charles drank was the recovery potion.

"55...56...57...58...59...60." He counted the fallen goblins, he had defeated.

"Master, are you seeing this? I defeated a total of 60 goblins in five hours." Charles enthusiastically asked, proud of his accomplishment.

"You should at least be capable of killing hundreds of goblins to be my disciple," Lucas replied indifferently.

"Tsk, I should not have asked you," Charles muttered to himself. "What a mood-cracking old geezer!"

"Because of my old age, I am hearing someone call me old geezer. Did you hear it?" Lucas replied with a cold voice, giving shivers downs Charles's spine.

"No-noting master, I didn't hear anything and your joking master, right? I haven't met anyone as young as you." Charles tried to sweet talk Lucious.

Kahoooo!!

Just then Charles heard the scream of some monster. He instantly hid in the bushes, concealing himself.

As he peeked from the bushes, he saw a wooden wall.

His eyes widen as he looked around to see two goblins standing at the entrance, each holding a crude spear, their beady eyes scanning the surroundings.

Clutching their crude spears tightly, they seemed ready to defend whatever lay beyond.

Observing the surroundings, Charles immediately knew that this was the goblin's village.

Charles put his guard on, clutching his swords tightly. He was ready to attack.

"You should use your observation skill," Lucious said.

"Ahh!" Charles was startled. "Is my magic and other skills, unseal?" He became happy at the thought of his skills being unsealed.

"No, only observation is unlocked. Now, be careful and don't die."

Hearing him, Charles wanted to curse but suppressed his anger.

He knew now was not the time. (he absolutely wasn't afraid... No)

"Now that I think about it, I barely used this skill."

"Let's see how it'll work," Charles said as he used his observation skill.

Soon, a barrier formed around Charles and started expanding, it cover the whole goblin village

Charles could sense every living being inside the barrier. He could sense even the slightest movement inside it.

Now, that he knew all the places where the goblins were, he decided to be a little cautious as there were around 247 goblins inside the village.

Which was a lot more than described in the quest.

"Is it a joint village?" Charles muttered. "No wonder, there were so many goblins in the route.

Joint Village is a phenomenon where the hobogoblins joins hands together and form a joint village for more protection.

It is a lot more dangerous than the normal village. Making the quest around B-rank.

"Master, can you please undo the seal, I will surely die if you don't." he pleaded, but didn't get any response.

"Fucking L-"

"Um?"

"Lomodies... Lomodies.... Fucking Lomodies."

Swoosh-Swoosh

Two darts, coated with a paralyzing poison, silently sailed through the air and found their mark, striking the unsuspecting goblin guards.

The darts pierced their flesh, and almost instantly, the guards fell to the ground, paralyzed.

Charles crouched in the bushes, his heart pounding with anticipation as he waited for the perfect moment to strike.

The fallen guards at the entrance had caught the attention of their comrades, who hurriedly approached to investigate the disturbance.

As the goblins gathered around their fallen allies, Charles seized the opportunity.

With utmost agility, he leaped out of the bushes and swiftly crossed to the other side, remaining undetected in the chaos.

His stealthy movement allowed him to evade the goblins' notice, slipping past them like a shadow in the night.

Once he was safely on the other side, Charles took a moment to assess his surroundings.

He found himself in the heart of the goblin village, surrounded by crude huts and makeshift structures.

The air was thick with the scent of rot and filth, the unmistakable signs of a goblin encampment.

Moving with caution, Charles navigated through the labyrinthine paths of the village, utilizing his observation skills to stay one step ahead of the goblins.

He kept a close eye on their movements, using his enhanced senses to detect any potential threats.

The village seemed to be bustling with activity. Goblins scurried about, engaged in various tasks and chores.

Some were sharpening weapons, while others tended to makeshift cooking fires. It was a chaotic scene, but Charles remained focused on his objective.

His primary goal was to locate the hobgoblin, the one responsible for the recent attacks and disappearances.

Charles knew that defeating the leader would weaken the goblins' morale and potentially put an end to their menace.

As he continued his stealthy exploration, Charles noticed a larger hut at the center of the village.

It stood taller and sturdier than the rest, adorned with crude symbols and decorations.

This was likely where the hobgoblin resided, the heart of their operations.

As he scanned the place, inside their were five hobgoblins. He leaned against the hut.

Charles didn't want to fight them head on as without his skill, he was no match for five C rank monsters.

But things didn't go as he planned and a punch came right out of the huts wall where charles was leaning.

Boom!

As Charles crashed into the ground, the impact jarring his senses, he struggled to regain his composure.

Pain coursed through his body, but his determination burned bright within him.

Slowly, Charles rose to his feet, his eyes fixed on the hobgoblins emerging from the hut.

They were larger and more menacing than the goblins he had faced earlier.

Their red eyes gleamed with malicious intent, and their muscles bulged beneath their rough skin.

"You thought you could sneak into our village undetected, human?" snarled the largest hobgoblin, its voice dripping with contempt. "Your presence here will be your downfall."

Charles clenched his fists, his mind racing to find a way out of this dire situation.

He knew he had to act swiftly and decisively if he wanted to survive.

Taking a deep breath, he activated his observation skill once again, hoping to gain an advantage and uncover any weaknesses in the hobgoblins' defenses.

The barrier formed around him, granting him a heightened perception of his surroundings.

As he scanned the hobgoblins, Charles noticed a pattern in their movements and attack patterns.

The largest hobgoblin seemed to be the most aggressive, relying on brute strength and raw power.

Another hobgoblin appeared to be more agile, evading attacks with grace and precision.

The remaining three hobgoblins formed a defensive line, ready to counter any offensive moves.

Using this information, Charles formulated a plan. He needed to exploit their individual weaknesses and create openings for himself.

He swiftly dodged a barrage of attacks from the agile hobgoblin, narrowly avoiding its razor-sharp claws.

With a quick counterstrike, he managed to land a glancing blow on its side, causing it to stagger.

Seizing the opportunity, Charles focused his attention on the largest hobgoblin.

He knew that brute force alone would not be enough to defeat it. Instead, he aimed for its exposed joints, striking with precision and accuracy.

As he engaged in a fierce battle with the hobgoblins, Charles employed his agility and speed to outmaneuver their attacks.

He evaded their strikes, retaliating with calculated strikes of his own. The tide of the battle began to shift in his favor.

However, just as Charles gained momentum, a sinister laughter echoed through the village. From the shadows, another figure emerged—a hobgoblin mage.

Dressed in dark robes, it wielded a staff crackling with magical energy.

"There was another one?" Charles muttered. "How was he undetected by my skill."

Examining the monster, his eyes widened. He could not believe what he was seeing, the ultra rare 'Hobgoblin Mage.'

The monster that takes an entire C-rank adventurer group to defeat.

"So he was the cause of this mess?"

"Master please unseal my magic." Charles pleased to his master.

But he wasn't sure in defeating the B-rank and C-rank all by himself.

Whistle!

"AHHH!!"

A dark lightning hit Charles making him collapse to the ground.
