Chapter 29 - Good Times

"Finally, we're here. Want to come in?"

"You really think we're close, don't you? Just so you know, we're not."

Marie replied with a look of disdain. Obviously, that didn't faze me, so I continued:

"Don't be so prickly, Marie. We've shared some good times together."

"I don't remember any 'good times' with you, pest."

The trip here wasn't a good time? I can't stop thinking about the scene of Marie taking care of those two, and to top it off, her face covered in blood under the drizzle and petals, stunning.

It's a pity I can't compliment her on that. What a shame.

"What's so bad about just coming in for a bit and having a drink to warm up? Come on."

"No, pest."

"Look, it's still drizzling. Come on. You can stay until it stops."

"I already said no, pest."

"You used to call me idiot, and now it's pest?"

"No, pest."

"If you don't want to come in, then go to hell— I mean, just leave before it really starts raining. Bye, and I hope you don't run into any thieves on your way back."

"I don't need your concern."

"I'm not worried about you, but about the thieves."

I said with a smile, raising my arm and waving. Marie left with a look of disgust, without saying a word.

"Doesn't your arm hurt?"

"You'll scare your dad off, idiot!"

I jumped, startled by Sophie's voice.

"I knew it."

"Knew what?" I asked.

"Knew it'd take a weirdo to go out with another weirdo like you."

"I agree; she's way too weirdo stunning."

"For the record, I was mocking you, lunatic. And I thought you didn't believe in love at first sight."

"Well, I don't, really, but maybe I believe in love at second or third sight."

Of course, that's not it, but after seeing Marie in that moment, I did feel drawn to her. But it's far from love or even passion.

"Get that weird smile off your face. It's making me want to puke."

Remembering what I'd seen made me smile again.

"Can't you be happy for your brother? Let's go inside."

Let's go in because I can't wait to train and open my second point and… and… and… and...

"Kukuku."

"I told you, your smile is weird!"

As she said that, Sophie threw an arm around my neck and started smacking me with her other hand, dragging me home.

"Ouch! Kukuku, ouch! Kukuku."

"What? Laughing and yelling in pain? Lunatic! You need a cold shower to wake up! Come on, let's go!"

"Can you stop yelling in my ear? Ouch!"
