Chapter 5 - 5

"Maybe the schemes of the devil were nothing compared to what man could think up"

- Joe Hill

As I stood inside my simple yet cozy room, my eyes traveled towards the comfortable normal sized bed, a cupboard, a huge chest and a shelf for my weapons. I then approached the window. I drew the curtains to see a beautiful forest in my view. I quickly opened the window to let the fresh air into my room. The smell of the aftermath of the rain on soil, the smell of the trees calmed my nerves. I then turned around to see another room. I opened the door to see the bathroom. It was provided with the essentials that a woman needed. I smiled to myself as I got slightly excited to be away. I was finally away from home. I didn't exactly like living with my mother. She made me uncomfortable and unwanted.

I stepped outside my room and started walking through the halls that were guarded. I wanted to go for a walk through the forest.

I've always felt like I've belonged with the forest. It made me feel calm and happy. If that was an emotion I could properly feel.

As I made my way to the forest I lifted my arms out letting out a sigh of relaxation. I looked around at the trees while I walked. They were absolutely gorgeous.

My walk was cut short as I heard something snapping behind me. I quickly got into position to fight whoever had been there.

But when I turned around I was met with nothing in my vision, so I slowly turned around while reflexively grabbing the arms of those in front of me and bending them behind their back. But when I did I was effortlessly lifted up and dropped into the person's embrace.

Then I finally realized who it was.

I could feel the sparks in my body.

It was king Cian.

I turned around as I tried to compose myself from my shock.

He was standing right there. He had casual dark blue jeans on with a white shirt. The simplicity complimented his eyes and hair. He was a man anyone could easily dream of being graced by his presence.

I tried to steady my heartbeat because I'm sure that he would hear it otherwise.

I looked down at my clothes and turned away blushing "I feel so over dressed"

"May I?" I looked up to see king Cian motioning to my hand. I didn't know what he meant so I just slowly lifted my arm towards him. His hand held onto mine while his fingers caressed my palm. His other hand was lifted towards my wrist. His fingers slowly trailed on the mark that he had previously planted on my wrist with the burning iron. Concern was swimming through his brown eyes. I didn't realize I had gotten so close to him. I was mesmerized by his eyes. They were brown with yellow streaks planted randomly through them. I've never looked into more gorgeous eyes before. I got caught off guard as minty breath brushed my lips and his eyes were swirling with even stronger emotions than my own. I'm pretty sure that this was new for both of us, and I already feel like throwing myself at him. But I know that it's because he is my soulmate.

I let out a small squeal as I felt a bug brush my leg. I jumped into his arms without thinking what I had done. His strong arms held me to his chest as he lifted me up from the ground.

I'm a warrior yet I got caught off guard by a bug. It's so embarrassing to think I'm one of the warrior leaders. King Cian is definitely rethinking the tournament and his decision now.

Talking about king Cian, I am currently in his arms as he held me even tighter.

"I'm okay"

He hesitantly let me go slowly and I couldn't bring myself to look at him. It's embarrassing that I held onto him that way. In my defense it wasn't a fair fight. The bug had caught me in my vulnerable moment.

"You still have not cared for your wrist, would you like me to do so, beautiful?"

My knees buckled at his words and his deep and slightly rough voice. He really has a way with words though.

"I could never dream to ask for that, your highness"

I let out a breath that I didn't know I was holding. I couldn't stay here any more. It felt too hot even when the cold air was hitting me from all directions. It was too much to handle I can't be in his presence without wanting to hold him in every single possible way.

I trembled as my actions were quicker than my thoughts.

I ran from the king.

I ran from king Cian because he is my Soulmate.
