Chapter 27 - Leaving Red Iron City

"Welcome back, Black Heaven! The Escort Team is currently in waiting room 1. You will have a quick brief before you start your journey." Fiora said when he appeared before her.

She pointed in a certain direction where a hallway with several doors could be seen and continued, "The first door will be waiting room one."

"Thank you." Bai Tian said to her before going to the waiting room.

Inside the small waiting room was a group of individuals that were already seated. There were four people in total, excluding Bai Tian. Three males and one female.

These four people turned around to look at Bai Tian when they heard him entering. The males didn't really have much of a reaction when they saw him, but the female's eyes flickered with excitement upon seeing his handsome face.

'Wow! What a handsome fellow! His skin looks so pale and smooth! His eyes are so cool and charming!' The woman with short black hair thought to herself as her gaze remained fixated on Bai Tian, and she wondered why he was working as an Adventurer instead of a model.

"Good morning." Bai Tian said to them with a friendly smile on his face as he sat down in one of the empty chairs, right beside the woman.

"Hey, what's your name?" The woman immediately began a conversation with him.

"You can call me Black Heaven," he responded.

'What a weird name.' The woman thought to herself, but since he was handsome, she didn't mind it.

"My name's Mirth, I'm a Priest."

"Martial Artist."

The woman's expression immediately stiffened.

"I-Is that so. Good luck…"

The woman no longer tried to continue the conversation and went radio silent, turning the atmosphere awkward.

Seeing this, Bai Tian shook his head inwardly. He was having a hard time understanding why Martial Artists are so discriminated against in this world. So what if they cannot use mana? That doesn't make them completely useless. If Cultivators looked down on everyone weaker than them, they'd be staring down at the majority of the world.

A few minutes later, another individual entered the room. She was a beautiful middle-aged woman who was luxuriously dressed in red and gold, and she did not give off the aura of an Adventurer even in the slightest. If anything, she looked like a noble who was on her way to a party.

"I'm Jewel Dhaka, your employer, and I will be giving you a brief of your mission now."

After a slight pause, she continued, "We will be traveling from this city to Galadriel by horse and carriage. It will take approximately three days. We will have a half an hour break at noon and set up camp before it's dark."

She then looked at the clipboard that had been tucked underneath her armpit and continued, "So we have five Adventurers for this trip. Mirth, Level 52 Priest. George, Level 66 Warrior. Lenny, Level 69 Wizard. Dennis, Level 64 Ranger. Last but not least, Black Heaven…"

Jewel paused for a second before speaking, "Level 32, Martial Artist."

"Level 32?"

Everyone in the room turned to look at him. Not only does he have the worst class out there, his level was half of everyone else's level.

However, as if everyone was too stunned to say anything, Jewel continued without any interruptions, "Then we'll have Mirth, Lenny, and Dennis in the rear of the formation. The rest will be in the front. Those who will be in the front will ride in the first carriage, and the rear team will ride the third carriage. Any questions?"

The level 66 Warrior, George, raised his hand and looked at Bai Tian, "I have a question. Is he really supposed to be here?"

Instead of answering his question, Jewel turned to look at Bai Tian and asked him, "Are you aware of what you are getting into? Monsters between level 40 to 50 will show up during our journey, maybe even level 60 monsters if we're unlucky."

He calmly nodded, "I am fine with that."

Jewel narrowed her eyes slightly and continued, "If you become a liability, we will leave you behind with no reimbursement."

"I have no problem with that."

"What an arrogant bastard…" Someone in the room suddenly muttered in a low voice.

'Where is his confidence coming from? He's just a Bronze-grade Adventurer…' Jewel wondered to herself.

"Any other questions?" She then asked.

When nobody said a thing for the next several seconds, Jewel started handing out papers to everyone.

The paper was basically a contract that stated some rules regarding the mission as well as their payment. 2 Gold Coins will be paid in advance and 8 more Gold Coins will be given at the end of their mission.

"Once you read and sign this, we will immediately start our journey. If you have any concerns, let me know right now." Jewel said to them.

Once everyone signed their paper and handed it back to Jewel, she paid them all 2 Gold Coins on the spot.

"You are now employed. We will be leaving in 10 minutes. Get ready before then. I will see you all outside."

Everyone left the room shortly after.

10 minutes later, they gathered in the front, where they made their way to the carriages that were located outside the city walls.

There were three carriages in total, and they were in a line formation.

As discussed beforehand, Bai Tian and George went to the first carriage while the other three went to the third one. As for Jewel, she went inside the second carriage, where another individual that was not part of the escort team was guarding. She was a tall beauty with long black hair, purple eyes, and a stern-looking face. She was also wearing a servant's outfit, but Bai Tian knew at glance that she was more than just a servant.

Shortly after everything was prepared, they began their journey to Galadriel.
