At first, Islinda thought Aldric was bluffing when he said he wouldn't be available for dinner, however, it hit her that the dark prince had no reason to lie about that considering he was incapable of lying in the first place as a Fae. Why would he lie about dinner anyway? To prank her?
No, that sounded too low, even for Aldric.
Also, after Aldric left, Islinda found out that the book he had been holding on to didn't revert to the Fae language. At first, Islinda believed that her eyes were deceiving her and didn't want to get her hopes high again only to be dashed into pieces. So she left the book alone and stared at it suspiciously for over ten minutes before opening it and truly, it was understandable.
