Licheng gazed at Yuan, who remained unconscious throughout their journey to the Shadow City. As Licheng and Tao Shuyan stepped out of the carriage, Licheng spoke with determination, "I implore you to remove the demonic essence from my brother's core immediately."
Tao Shuyan, however, remained skeptical. "Why should I trust your words? Show me the phoenix stone first, and only then will I consider freeing Yuan from the demonic essence," he demanded, setting forth his condition.
Because of frustration, Licheng grasped Tao Shuyan by the collar and pushed him toward the carriage's door. "Tao Shuyan, you have to do it now. I have given you my words and I will not step back," he affirmed, his voice resolute.
Tao Shuyan let out a chuckle, catching Licheng's hand and gradually lowering it. "Do not resort to force with me, or your brother's life may pay the price," he warned, a trace of threat in his voice.
