"Eunuch Lian told me I was supposed to meet Zhou Lin. Why did you send him away?" Xiana asked as she followed Licheng to the hilltop to reach the bamboo forest.
Licheng didn't reply to her, continuing to walk on the pathway.
"Licheng, is it so crucial to hide the truth from me?" she queried.
"It wasn't a crucial matter to be discussed with you," Licheng replied and asked Xiana if she could take a long jump to negotiate the distance. He briefly paused, and so did she.
"I do not know," Xiana shook her head in refusal when Licheng asked her to try once.
"What if I fall?" Xiana asked.
"You won't. I will catch you before that," Licheng assured her.
Xiana trusted his words and pushed herself up, but she failed to cover the distance that easily. She felt a little upset too because in the past, she was the one who taught Licheng how to fly.
