In Wang Feng's previous universe, the universe expanded faster than light. There was no telling that, in this universe, the collapse was slower than the speed of light. Not only that, but in the early universe, there was nothing but hydrogen and helium. It was surely increasing universe-wide due to the decrease in square meters.
