Pontifex loved to play in the mountains. He jumped and climbed and generally had a good time. He shot things with his slingshot and brought them back home to eat. He loved the face his mother made when he brought home a juicy rabbit. Pontifex was innocent and plucky.
One of the days he was playing in the mountains, he saw a giant chunk of rock ripped from the heart of the mountain and disappear into the sky. He made the mistake of running towards the scene to inspect it. A man was standing over the rectangular hole that looked as if it had been cut with a knife. The rocks were smooth on the side of the cliff that was formed.
"Hello, boy, do you want to go on an adventure?"
Pontifex looked at the bearded man. He wore silk clothes, and his wavy hair was tied in the back.
