Chapter 14 - Magic, IV

"Another potential which is limitless exists. That's what I and other beings call the Transcendent-Potential."

"Huh?" Selica squinted her eyes, rather unbelieving at my words.

"Yeah, right." Luke just shrugged it off.

"Hmm…" Sean seemed to be deep in thought.

After a few seconds, Sean shook his head, his beautiful dark blue hair wavering about, "This actually makes sense."

"Huh?" Selica blinked her blue sapphires.

"What do you mean?" Luke frowned.

"No, take a second and think about it, there are levels up to the Peculiar-Potential, which surpasses the level of the queen who is supposed to be the strongest in the hierarchy, and yet doesn't go to an otherworldly level." Sean began muttering his words rather clearly than what I expected.

"Peculiar-Potential… Surpasses the queen and yet doesn't surpass human bounds… Ah, I get it!" Selica's face brightened up at the realization.

"Hum, hum." I nodded my head up and down, feeling content that they were using their brains, well, at least Sean did so.

Luke spoke harshly, "No, I still can't understand it." He seemed to be getting annoyed at how he was left behind.

"It isn't difficult, Luke." I began to talk now. "Think of the system, for example, the commoners can get the chance to go through elementary, middle, and high school, but at the end of the day, they still can't increase their rank to become a Baron, Duke, Viscount, or whatever." I ended my sentence there to let Luke process what I was speaking of.

"Whereas, a child of a noble coming will easily go through the school levels and have expectations to become the head of the family and bring wealth and prosperity to that said family through the power he already has. But, will that noble family tell a commoner who they managed to rise through the ranks?"

"No…"

"Will someone who is trying to keep limits upon their people to not raise rebellion give information and the idea to people to reach the infinity?"

"Ah…" A breath escaped Luke's lips as he seemed to be lost and shocked at the acquisition of such awareness.

"Will a king tell his dukes how they can attain their kingships?" I mentioned another concrete example.

"It makes even more sense now," Sean's calming voice was heard, his hazel eyes darting around the ground, he was probably connecting the puzzle pieces.

"Agh, the puzzle pieces they… they are coming together. Everything makes sense now!" That's what he's probably thinking, teehee!

"Well, that aside, the reason the Transcendental thingy isn't ever mentioned is that you can say that almost no one has reached it, and they probably don't have enough information about it either."

"Huh?"

"Then why are you telling us about something unattainable?"

"Who said it's impossible to become a transcendent?" I opened one eye with a raised brow while I closed the other one comically, acting like an old man.

"Well, it is true that you all will have much more difficulty doing so. If we take it into the calculation, if you go through groundbreaking evolutions, maybe you'll reach that stage by the age of ninety or one-hundred-fifty something."

"We won't even be alive by then!?" Selica yelled.

"Who knows, maybe you'll find an elixir that will grant you a long life ahead of you all, it's never okay to give up. Hope is what dies last, isn't it?" I smiled, trying to encourage them about this topic.

"Why did you specify us exactly, though?" Sean popped a question, which was one I didn't expect from Luke and Selica.

He really deserves the brainiac nickname, "Well, the reason is, that I had formed my core when I was three years old. I was already at the High-Stage when I hit my ten-year-old mark."

"Ghe, High-Stage when you were ten?!" Sigh, of course it's a shock.

"Now this gives a fatal blow to my will and pride as a mage," Luke grumbled.

"That's amazing…" Sean had a corner of his lips tugged up.

"When did you all awaken? I read that the usual age here is from seven up to fifteen. And of course, some people never awaken at all."

"I awoke when I was nine," Selica informed me.

"I did so at seven and a half," Luke thinned his lips, Selica had an expression etched on her face as if saying, "That explains how you've reached Knight-Potential already."

"I did it at five…" Sean raised his hand awkwardly.

"Five!?"

"Five!?"

"Oh, five?" I repeated, "Now, that's surprising. Explains a lot about how you understand the theoretical flow of mana so well."

"Yeah…"

"And, what's another way of increasing your mana storage?" I asked.

"The way I do it is through meditating…"

"Aha! Now that's what I'm talking about."

"Meditating? What's meditating going to do?" Selica raised her brow with skepticism in her voice.

"Listen, you sit down, empty your mind, and only try to feel the atmosphere mana around you. Mana, like any other organism, is a living thing. So, if you want it to love you, you must love it first. Persuade it to become a part of you, to help you, and join your story journey."

"Eh, you mean talk to the particles while meditating?"

"No, you dumb woman! You feel them, and with your mind, convey your intentions."

"Now this is going to be a hassle– Whoa!?" Selica was whispering to herself when I called upon mana to shower me within its power.

A blueish glow had overtaken me as the mini-shockwaves managed to make my disciples' hair flutter around.

Right now I look like the characters from Wyvern Ball Z when doing a power charge.

"This," I raised my glowing hand and eyed my palm, in a smooth, beautiful motion, turning it around to face Selica, "Is when you are loved by mana."

A neon sphere of cyan arose into existence in front of my palm, all the mana that was coalesced around me traveled there, and in a blitz, it drilled through Selica.
