Chapter 99 - I Wonder If Any Of Those Pots Are Full?

The group left the Town Centre, with Lucius requesting that one of the guards run of towards the building site and grab Sostratus and Wang Shu for him, so that he could go through with them the new schematics and the plans. Dom felt the four Green Cubes in his sack and rolled them around in his hand.

"We have four Cubes, where do we use them first?" Dom stated, this was the largest amount of cubes he had ever had in one go, and with the Offices and Schematics they already had a lot of new changes to Riverside in a small window of time. For Dom it had felt like a couple of days, but for the people that hadn't joined them on the Battle for Kadesh Special Map, not even a day had passed as of yet.

"I think with the schematics of the Shop being created, we ideally need to start setting up some industries that can have their goods sold in them." Shang Yang stated, "That way we can place a small tax on the items and create a way for the money to continue to come through our coffers."

"Very well, let's head to the manufacturing district then!" Dom replied, as everyone else seemed to agree with Shang Yang's idea.

They walked towards the Manufacturing District and stood beside the Blacksmith Forge, the only real building here other than the Logging Camp that was on the edge of the Town boundary. The Logging Camp was busy, with many people carrying materials here and there, or working on cutting down trees as they slowly created a semi circle in to the forest as they felled more and more trees as the need for wood resource increased.

Dom wondered if they should work on a plan for re-planting saplings as they cut, so that they had a continuous stream of resources replenishing themselves in the future. In the real world, this hadn't been done and the issues because of that had triggered many wars between the rival kingdoms. Dom remembered reading about a way from a hundred years ago, when two small kingdoms had gone to war over some ripe farmland that was growing unique crops of medicinal herbs, neither had succeeded though as a deadly snow storm had hit that year and caused that section of land to be frozen for the next two decades.

"System, please roll a green cube and spawn a random building." Dom asked.

[Rolling for Random Building.....Building Selected.....Pottery]

Suddenly the ground shook again and a large wooden Warehouse appeared to the side of the Blacksmiths Forge. The front side of the Warehouse was open and large rows of clay pots adorned one side, whilst a large pile of clay, stone and other materials lay on the other end. In the middle were large open fire pits, whilst the back had large open kilns.

"Show Stats!" Dom exclaimed.

[Riversides Pottery

"A Pottery." Lucius stated, "Pots are an important resource for transporting goods and items, as well as storing food and drink. This is probably one of the most important buildings we have and I'm sure the other farmers will be very grateful to see it."

"How about from a commercial perspective?" Subutai questioned, "As I believe that is what we were hoping for?"

"Well actually, this is something that Civilians will want to buy themselves, so I'm sure these could be sold through the Market and the Stores." Lucius commented. "As well as Pots, things such as Plates and Mugs could be created here, which will definitely be sold throughout the Town."

"Regardless, this is an important building that we need to get staffed quickly." Shang Yang agreed.

Dom listened in and agreed with all of their points, the Pottery was a key building to Riverside and if they could upgrade it, it may open up other routes for them in the future. He was however reluctant to use his final Wooden Token to upgrade it at this point, as there were other buildings that most likely were more important to Riverside's initial growth that he had available.

"I'm going to use another Green Cube here before we move on." Dom stated, feeling that they needed to increase the Manufacturing area more than anywhere else, as the Merchant Area would soon be filled with shops. "System, please roll for a Random Building."

[Rolling for Random Building....Building Selected....Mine]

There was no rumble and Dom was wondering what was happening as nothing seemed to be going on. Time passed for a few seconds, that seemed to last for a very long time, with the others looking at Dom with raised eyebrows.

[No area within the vicinity has been located for the Mine to spawn, please use the updated Cube when a location has been found]

Dom looked at the Green Cube and noted that it was no longer down as a Green Cube - Random Building Spawn, but was now a Green Cube - Mine. He already knew that they had discovered resources at the mountain to the west, so would have to travel up there and spawn this himself.

"Why has nothing happened?" Shang Yang questioned.

"I have received a Mine, but have been told that there is nowhere within the current grounds for it to spawn." Dom replied.

"I think that follows up with the earlier explanation, some places are not currently within the territory of Riverside, even if we feel that they are. We need to create Watchtowers and outposts to make sure that they are within our remit." Shang Yang replied.

"I'm not sure we currently have enough troops and builders to do that yet." Subutai lamented, "I'll have to speak with the Commanders and maybe reallocate the resources we had planned for our scouting exercises."

"We do have an additional two hundred and thirty seven Warriors that we plan to re-train." Lucius commented, "Once they are trained, guarding Watch Towers may be an ideal occupation."

"Next time we conquer a town, we could always relocate it and extend our area influence that way." Dom added as an option, before continuing. "As that building hasn't spawned, should we use one more Green Cube here?"

"I think that would be a good idea." Shang Yang agreed, "Where do you intend to use the last one."

"I'm thinking the Merchant District." Dom replied, "Hopefully it will add some more variety, we have the School, Doctors, Market, Shipyard and Docks there, it's a thriving area that I want to continue."

"Hopefully we get some relaxation type buildings next." Subutai stated, "I think everyone would appreciate that."

The whole group agreed with nodded heads, whilst Dom placed the Mine Building Cube in his sack and pulled out another Random Building Cube.

"System, please roll for a random building." Dom asked.

[Rolling for a Random Building....Building Selected....Brewery]

Suddenly the ground shook violently as another Warehouse like building appeared, similar to the Pottery one side of the large wooden warehouse was fully open. Inside Dom could see rows of large Stone Pots with lids, as well as large wooden barrels that were on their side with simple pipework connecting them. In the centre of the room was a couple of extremely large open bowls, where liquids and ingredients could be malted, mashed, mixed and other parts of the brewing process, before being placed in the barrels for fermenting.

"Show stats." Dom asked excitedly.

[Riversides Brewery

"A Brewery!" Dom stated to the group.

"Not a Winery, but still an excited building." Lucius agreed, "If I wasn't the current Mayor with bigger responsibilities, I would recommend using the Wooden Token on this."

"I'm not using the Wooden Token on the Brewery." Dom stated seriously.

"This is a great place, and it will have a huge morale boost for all of the forces and citizens that are busy at work." Subutai stated, "I'm quite excited myself."

"Well if you get involved, maybe you can have a beer named after you?" Dom replied.

"Maybe something after Genghis instead." Subutai said in deep thought as he looked in to the Brewery.

"We will need to have a serious look at our current members and see who has skills for the Pottery and the Brewery." Shang Yang interrupted. "I'm sure we will have people for both, but we need to get all of our industries moving, this could be a big export for us through the Market."

"Make sure you are looking at the Women as well as the Men." Dom replied, "That is our largest Civilian number, as most of the new ones are partners for the latest batch of Warriors from Kadesh. Ideally we can get them some career options."

"Tomyris had also mentioned seeing if we can train a Century of Women in the Legionary Warriors Hall, as she is aware that some of the women in Riverside have expressed an interest to her." Subutai commented.

"I don't see why not." Dom replied, "We just need to prioritise our Domestic needs for now as Shang Yang has stated previously."

"I understand." Subutai said with a nod of the head, understanding that growing the Military was important, but not as much as getting control of the internal numbers first.

"Ok then, to the Merchant District!" Dom stated, as he turned away from the Brewery back towards the Town Centre.

"I wonder if any of those pots were full?" Lucius commented as they walked, causing all of them to pause in their steps for a second. He then continued, "Let's have a look later!"

The group agreed as they continued towards the Merchant District in the distance.
