... There was a time when I was alone, nowhere to go and nowhere to call home....My only friend was the man in the moon even sometimes he would go away too...
Then one night, as I closed my eyes...I saw a shadow flying high...he came to me with the sweetest smile told me he wanted to take for a while.
He said Peter Pan, that's what they call me...
Slow tuned music filled the van as we drove along the road which was surprisingly quiet and a chilly breeze blew around, only few cars which drove along could be seen.
"Lost boy right?" I was prompted to ask due to the silence that engulfed us even though I knew the answer.
Penny turned her head towards me with a satisfied smile. " Yes...I love that song. It's like a comfort medicine to me"
I smiled.
"This very song makes me questions what I really want in life...you know" Penny said while focusing her complete attention on the road.
"What do you want?" I asked .
"Normal stuff. A nice life. Cool flat. Fun job. Someone to watch movies with... silly right?"
A light chuckle followed suit.
"Not it isn't. It's want you want."
"We are almost there..." Penny announced with a smile diverting the conversation. I could see a restaurant at a distance.
"You work at a restaurant?" I wasn't surprised, rather was I being sentimental that she worked there.
"Mm..yes"
"Why then did you say you worked at an office." I said with a light chuckle.
"I didn't say so. You asked if I did an I said we'll find out, so here we are." She said getting down from the van .
As the two girls made their way to the restaurant where Penny works, the air was filled with a newfound excitement and anticipation.
The cold wind whispered against their ears as they walked the busy streets, slowly revealing the magnificent sight lying ahead of them. As they approached the restaurant, the lights glittered brightly, giving the sense of warmth and comfort from the already busy surroundings.
The restaurant itself was nestled neatly on the corner of a bustling street and was awash with a modern ambiance.
I could see the subtle notes of color adorning the restaurant, making it bright and radiant. The lights that illuminated the interior gently enticed the eye, giving the restaurant a charming and welcoming aura. Upon reaching the front door, Penelope ushered her in with an infectious smile, causing a warm feeling to spread throughout her mind and body.
The moment she stepped inside the restaurant, the aromatic scent of savory spices and tantalizing food greeted her. The interior was nothing short of breathtaking, from the exquisite lighting to the impeccably arranged tables.
The restaurant's design had a contemporary touch with a hint of sophistication, accentuated by fragrant fresh flowers adorning each table. It was modern but also had a rustic appeal, and one could tell that each piece of furniture was chosen with care and keen attention to detail.
As we strolled over to a table, they stopped at a glass cabinet filled with an assortment of pastries and side dishes. Everything looked gorgeous, neatly arranged in their little plates. Her eyes lit up as she glanced at the captivating display, her mouth beginning to water.
Penelope nudged her, whispering, "Isn't it beautiful?" Her emotions mirrored her Penelope's words, for it was not just the presentation of the food that was stunning, but also the way the staff hustled to make the experience of the customers seamless.
As the waiter came to take their order, something peculiar happened to her - an unfamiliar feeling of belonging, warmth, and home. She couldn't help but marvel at how everything seemed so perfect, how the food and ambiance had a kindred spirit that complemented each other in delightful ways. Penelope's work location had been a perfect introduction to her new city, a place that would not only flood her senses but become her sanctuary.
"Thank you" Elaine didn't know why she had thanked her indeed she was truly amazed by everything - the restaurant. At the same time Elaine was grateful for showing her this place with the depth of her heart.
"You're welcome and this place is called The Gather Table"
The Gather Table?
The name of the restaurant sounded weird in some sort of way but brought out the uniqueness of the restaurant.
Maybe Sacramento wasn't bad after all?
There was more to see... Maybe this is indeed a new start and freshness?
