"Thin what has gotten into you?" Wave asked.
"My name isn't Thin!" she hissed. "It's Thin-moon now."
"Oh I'm sorry Thin-moon." He rolled his eyes.
"Don't roll your eyes at me!" Thin snapped.
"Why? Because you're being rude to everyone?" Wave responded.
Thin hissed and walked away. She'd never been treated that way by Wave before. Then again, she'd never acted that way towards Wave before...
She let her paws take her wherever they wanted as long as it was away from the thicket. She had a feeling Wave hated her now. Maybe, he didn't even know who she was. She found herself at the Pine. Right next to the Stream Group border. She climbed up the tree and sat on a branch overlooking her territory. There were a few squirrels she scared off when she climbed up but she didn't care. She wasn't hunting.
She looked over her territory. The tree was so tall she could see all the way to the wheel-home where Caramel and Cream lived. Thin looked dwn at the ground below her. How could she be so stupid? She lost her best friend. Who was weirdly allergic to dandelions. She liked Wave. Wave was her best friend ever. She remembered when she met him.
She was walking alongside Storm. They were walking through the forest. It was a warm day and the two cats were looking for water. They found a small pond by one of the wheel-homes. They walked up to it and saw a cat drinking beside it. He was a tan brown with golden stripes and a dark brown underbelly. He had bright green eyes like Thin. The young kit had dropped her kit name and become Thin-tail, nicknamed Thin by Storm.
The cat was only the size of an apprentice, slightly bigger than Thin. He looked eight or nine moons.
"Who are you?" Storm hissed as the cat looked up. Storm stepped protectively in front of Thin.
The cat pinned his ears fearfully. "Hey, I'm no threat to your kit. I'm Wave. I'm just passing through."
Storm growled and Thin stepped around him. She ran up to the cat. "Hi, Wave. I'm Thin...tail," she said.
He looked the kit up and down. "Thin-tail? Nice to meet you, Thin-tail. Uh..." he looked at Storm. "I should go..."
"No!" Thin exclaimed. "Storm please, please, please let him stay!"
Storm growled. "Fine but don't do anything to her, ok?"
"No. I won't hurt a kit...ten. Kitten," he said.
Wave was later named Wave-stripe after being trained when they figured out he'd been an apprentice and was chased out. The branch swayed under Thin's weight. She hadn't noticed how thin the branch she was sitting on had been. She decided it would be fine and kept thinking. There was also the time she'd met Chestnut and Cloud.
Thin was walking through the forest, searching for the dandelions she was going to use for Wave's gift. She wanted to make him a flower crown since today he was thirty-one moon cycles. So far, she'd collected four dandelions. She just needed a few more...
That's when she ran into two cats who'd been collecting plants.
"Hi!" she greeted them. "Sorry for bumping into you! I'm gathering dandelions."
"What's the occasion?" the chestnut brown cat said. She had a golden brown underbelly and white stipes.
"My friend turns thirty-one moon-cycles today!" Thin exclaimed happily.
"That's great!" the other cat said. He was white with dapples in different shades of gray. "By the way, I'm Cloud-feather and this is Chestnut-leaf..."
That's how she met Cloud and Chestnut. She watched the setting sun and decided it was time to head back. She wondered if Wave was still mad at her. Probably, but she couldn't blame him if he was. She had been rude to him lately. And all the others. But Wave was her best friend. Surely he would forgive her... Right?
Thin positioned herself to jump off the branch when all of a sudden she heard a loud crack. And then she was falling. She tried to cling to the branch but she couldn't find it beneath her paws. So she just kept falling and falling and falling. She remembered watching the branch shoot past her, meaning she was falling faster than it. She was almost at the ground and the last thing she remembered was hearing a cat shout, "Thin!" before she fell unconscious.
