Chapter 9 - 'Rare Talent'

Reala clocked thirteen a month ago and today was the celebration of the heir's birthday.

Today marked Seth's tenth birthday and two pieces of good news spread all around the estate.

The Mistress had given birth to another male child on the same day as Seth. This was enough for a huge celebration as the family now had two sons and any of them could become the heir.

An even more sensational one was that Seth had done the same thing that happened to Raela.

Within a 'few hours', he had produced a mana core just as pure as Rachel's. Davyon was moved to tears. His falling family had managed to produce three talents that could rival the top powerhouses. A single family producing that much in one generation was unheard of.

What they didn't know was that Seth had only allowed them to sense what he wanted them to sense. His mana core had even purer mana and had a reserve even higher than his father's.

If they knew about that, they would be scared witless.

Both news came a bit late as they couldn't celebrate them along with Seth's birthday but the news quickly reached the entire city, bringing more guests than the number of invites for the birthday.

Seth stood atop the building—a special hall in the estate being used to host his party, staring down at the guards at the door who asked each new face they saw for their invitation card. Some still managed to bypass such checking because of their status.

"Hehehe… the hard part is over. Now I just have to 'train' for the next five years till it's time to leave." Seth giggled as his words came out, barely audibly for anyone to hear.

"What is the celebrant of such a grand party doing here, on the roof?" Someone asked from behind him.

Without turning back, Seth answered. "Raela, you shouldn't be up here either. A grand party is being hosted to celebrate the birthday of your lovely brother along with other good things but here you are. You shouldn't be here either."

"Hmmph. I came here to avoid a certain annoying human. Although I refused the marriage proposal, I don't want to see him any time soon." Raela snorted, walking closer to stand by Seth's side.

"Fortunately, he's not here. I think he already left for the imperial capital. His training has commenced. How about we both go back down for the party?" Seth asked with a smile. He stretched out his hand to receive hers.

She smiled and held out her hand.

The both of them walked down the stairs as they headed for the birthday party sure to be already filled with guests.

Glowing orbs made into chandelier forms were hung on the ceiling with diamond-shaped luminous stones on the walls.

Tables were prepared at the center of the room with chairs surrounding each of them. On the tables, were already served dishes covered and waiting for the guests who would be feasting on them anytime soon.

Maids in black silky gowns that extended all the way to their knees with their hair tied to a bun were moving around the room, handing out glasses of drinks to people that requested another drink.

The room was over thirty meters wide and held figures of notable importance in the entire city.

Seth walked down the stairs towards the chair specially reserved for him when he noticed Leyrin. He stopped and winked at him before continuing his movement.

This act alone made Leyrin shiver. If he was asked to list who he feared the most, it would be Seth.

Davyon quickly arrived, dressed in noble clothing of black silky material.

As he arrived, the party officially began people went over to Seth to present gifts before him, wishing him a happy birthday. His accomplishment—becoming sensitive to mana was still a secret known only by Davyon, Rachel, and Reina. Not even Leah, their mother knew of it as she has fallen asleep after the birth of her new child.

"Congratulations on your tenth birthday young master Seth. We pray for a long life ahead of you." A family walked forward and presented a big squared gift to Seth. Their daughter held the gift while the father and mother stood behind her.

"My thanks to the house of Telmond." Seth rose from his seat to receive the gift with a courteous bow.

A smile bloomed on the face o the calm and reserved family head whose child stood in front of him presenting the gift to Seth.

The girl who was a year younger than Seth gave a big smile as she handed him the gift. "Happy Birthday Seth."

"Sylvia, you should be respectful." Her father whispered low enough so that the other guests wouldn't hear him.

"It's fine. She got my name correct, didn't she? That's all that matters." Seth intervened with a righteous face.

"Thank you, Young Master." The man bowed and walked back with his family.

"Hohoho… it's the tenth birthday of our young master. It's indeed a spectacular event. Here's our gift for the young master. Although it's a little small, I can guarantee that it's worth it." The person speaking this time was none other than Fhilhem who Seth had frustrated a few months ago.

He came this time with his beautiful wife, his son Leyrin and his only daughter who had an air of arrogance even though she was younger than most of the kids present.

The one walking forward to hand over the gift was no other person but Leyrin. His body constantly quivered as he approached the smiling Seth. This smile looked horrible to him.

"Hehehe… it's nice meeting you once again. I hope we get along." Seth received the gift and extended a hand for a handshake but Leyrin didn't think that was all.

He turned towards his father who nodded with a smile, urging him to shake Seth, seeming to have forgotten what Seth did to them months ago.

Leyrin couldn't leave the young master's hand hanging for too long so he also stretched his with a pained smile.

Seth held the hand firmly as Leyrin's body quaked. Seth had a mischievous grin looking at Leyrin. Then he just shook his hand and let go of it. "Looking forward to working with you."

'What the!? Am I dreaming?' Leyrin couldn't believe that Seth would just let him go that way but he was relieved that nothing happened.

He walked back to stand with his family as they bowed and took their leave from Seth's front. He replied with a bow of his own.

"Well, I don't think I'll be working with you though. I have bigger plans since I've now become a 'rare talent'..." Seth laughed.

'If you'll be working with anyone from the family though, it'll have to be the heir and not me.' Seth already made up his mind to leave the family's succession to the newborn baby, the second son of the family.

"That'll be your tenth-year birthday present." Seth said out loud and his father who was close to him turned to look at him in confusion.

"Sorry, my thoughts came out for a moment. You should ignore that." Seth seemed to know what his father was thinking as he replied.
