Chapter 32 - Conning The Principal

Seth didn't know the Reaper one-on-one but he had seen wanted posters of this person and the person who just hit him looked like a replica of the person on the poster.

The reason why he could boldly say the Reaper was here for them was of course because he had read through many of those posters.

The Reaper was always wanted for the death of a great genius. This monster was responsible for the death of six in the Kingdom of Nicadia alone and Seth didn't know about other kingdoms because he had never stepped foot out of their kingdom. In fact, the kingdom capital, Nidia was the only other city he had seen after the city he grew up in.

Seth of course knew why The Reaper hadn't been sent after Rachel. It was because she was the shining beacon of the Samiel family and was also protected heavily during her early stages until she became able to protect herself from threats like the Reaper.

Seth and Raela on the other hand might be protected but they weren't protected nearly half as heavily as Rachel. Besides, the major reason why the Reaper should be after them was that whoever sent him couldn't bear to see three monster geniuses rise from a single family.

The person was wrong though. The Samiel family had two rising monster geniuses and one demonic one. One that likes to lurk in the shadows.

Seth remembered the bounty placed on The Reaper's head and if he said he didn't need it, he would be lying to himself.

Just thinking about how much he'd receive after the death or captivity of the Reaper made him ecstatic as he said his thoughts out. "I think I'll need a little vacation soon." Seth grinned wickedly as he made his way to the principal's office. The same place he had received punishment from, a week ago.

The guards in front of the building didn't move nor say anything when Seth was within their sight.

"Good day." Seth greeted as he passed through them and headed inside the building where even more guards could be seen moving around.

Seth occasionally greeted the ones that walked past him or the ones he walked past. Soon, he stood in front of the principal's office where no guard could be seen.

A deep sigh escaped his mouth as he pushed the door open.

"Ugh."

Seth could swear that was what he heard when the door opened.

"Why are you here so early?" Principal Salmit asked. Seth could see him rubbing his temple.

"I have something to report." Seth said, ignoring the obvious hints the principal was giving, telling him to scram.

"Couldn't you at least wait till tomorrow? Your punishment ended today and you're in my office already?"

"What's so important that you couldn't wait a day to report?" Principal Salmit said, dropping the special pen in his hand to glare at Seth.

"I missed you."

'Shit! My thoughts are leaking out again!' Seth cussed inside.

"What?" Principal Salmit uttered as the pressure in the room increased three times but Seth stood strong making Principal Salmit squint his eyes.

"Pardon, principal, but that came out wrongly. I meant to say that the report was so important that I couldn't even wait an hour."

The principal stared at Seth, the pressure in the room reducing slowly. "What is it?" He asked.

"I believe my sister, Raela and I are in danger," Seth replied, his expression dead serious.

"And what's your basis for saying that?" Principal Salmit asked, the pressure in the room having completely vanished.

Seth opened his mouth and only two words came out. "The Reaper!"

Boom!

Words like bombs.

Once again, the pressure in the room multiplied but this time, it wasn't directed at Seth. "What makes you so sure?"

Seth apologized mentally. 'Pardon, this is all bullshit but here we go.'

"I have very very sensitive eyes and I can tell a person who's disguising as someone else. Although this isn't uncommon, I can also measure the mana core of a person as my eyes are very sensitive toward mana. I'm yet to find a limit to the abilities of the eye." Seth explained.

'This should do.' He said.

'Interesting… I knew he was something else.' Principal Salmit said to himself.

The principal thought for a moment. "So, you're saying you met The Reaper disguised in the school and he's after you and Raela?"

"Let's assume he really is in the school as you claim. What makes you think he's here for you both?" The principal asked.

"I don't mean to be proud but I can say we've both got the greatest potential of all the students to ever attend, including our older sister, Rachel who previously held that title. Someone found out and the rest is as you think it is." Seth explained to the principal.

'Impressive! You haven't shown many things to us but I think you've got an even higher potential compared to Raela.' The principal smirked.

"That might be true. Now, who is this person The Reaper is disguised as?" Principal Salmit asked, his face filled with rage. Someone was after his two most prized students and he wasn't planning on letting them have their way.

"He's disguised as a student from the same class as me. That makes it easier for him to get to me and since I already got into a fight with the student previously, he could use that to his advantage. Make enmity with me and through some unknown methods, kill me."

"Something similar or entirely different might happen to Raela too." Seth remained seated on the chair in front of the principal's desk.

"He's not aiming to draw out attention so he might as well hospitalize you and finish you off while you're unconscious. We won't be able to suspect him that way as he might even have an alibi." Principal Salmit said, stroking his beard.

'If he really came at me, it would be a miracle if he ended up being hospitalized.' Seth chuckled inside.

"What should I do?" Seth asked, worry written all over his face.

"Let's see…"

"How about we uproot the weed before its roots get deeper into the foundation?" Principal Salmit asked. He was going to deal with The Reaper himself since that was the best and safest option. The Reaper was cunning after all.

"Don't completely erase him though. I need to get a share from his bounty." Seth said with a smile. A smile that showed his love for money.

"I knew you were up to no good." Principal Salmit sighed again. This boy always had bad ideas.

"Think about it. The bounty will go a long way in helping the school. I'll only take forty percent." Seth suggested.

"You're a thief. A big one." Principal Salmit scolded Seth.

"Okay, thirty percent," Seth said, raising three fingers.

"Twenty!" Principal Salmit said abruptly.

"Fine by me." Seth smiled like he had won as he stood up to take his leave.

Principal Salmit decided to calculate twenty percent of the bounty and it wasn't small in any way.

"Wait. Twenty is too…"

"Old men don't go back on their words, do they?" Seth asked.

"Let's just get this over with." Seth shrugged.

He had successfully conned his principal twice now.
