"But still pumpkin,you shouldn't have said that to her, she was genuinely worried about you, you know".Adam said snatching her focus back to reality. Jenny rolled her eyes and twisted her lips in a funny way.
"She should have been a little bit kind with her words, she was literally scolding me dad, you saw it".Adams gave up,he knew arguing with his daughter was baseless,if someone were to hear Jenny's voice from outside, they wouldn't believe she had surgery just hours ago. "She's truly unbelievable". Adams muttered to himself.
"Okay pumpkin, your are right, she shouldn't have raised her voice at you, but you should know your mother by now, you should learn not to take most of the things she says seriously okay". Adams said dabbing her hair gently. Silence crept in, everyone taking responsibility for their own thoughts.
"Do you think everything is ever going to be fine dad?". Jenny's question boggled Adams but he chose to smile instead.
"Everything is going to be alright pumpkin,trust me".
The rest of that evening felt like the longest evening of Jenny's entire life,the sun was setting slowly,but she didn't mind at all cause the veiw was absolutely breathtaking, felt like she was seeing the sun set for first time in a long time ,it brought peace to her mind. Adams came in but left almost immediately,he has been in and out of the hospital, getting more prescribed drugs for Jenny and also making sure his company isn't neglected in anyway.
A nurse came in to give her an intravenous injection, Jenny was aware of this, she's expected to take a dose everyday at 6:30pm for five consecutive days.
"Hello Jenny, how are you feeling this evening?" The nurse had a beautiful smile on her face.
"l feel so much better". Jenny smiled too. After a few minutes the nurse was done, Jenny thanked her.
The nurse left shutting the door gently behind her, Jenny turned to face the window only to realize sadly that the sun had completely set, she picked up her phone and stared at the screen, no calls no messages, nothing.
The more she looked at the phone the more amusing she finds the whole situation to be,of course no one is either going call nor text her cause no one out there cares about her. All of a sudden her phone made a beep sound startling her,a notification from blinky app popped on the screen,an app that she barely utilize cause she had no friends to chat. She only downloaded the app for the sole purpose of getting more info about her school no wonder it's the most trendy app at school, cause something interesting is always going on there.
Jenny eventually tapped on the notification box, revealing a strange number,she opened the message box and it says"hello Jenny". Even after seeing the message, Jenny was finding it difficult to believe that someone messaged her privately and this person even knows her name,she wondered who it could possibly be.
The phone began to vibrate, Jenny's eyes widen in utter surprise, that strange number was now calling her she picked the call, not sure of what to say or how to respond.
"Hello Jenny, how are you doing?". A familiar voice came through the phone speaker.
"Hello,who are my speaking with?". Jenny asked still not sure of who it was.
"oh,uhmm sorry its me Johnny, remember me?".
Jenny caught herself smiling, she was least expecting him to call,the feeling she got hearing his voice was something unexplainable. She regained her composure and said
"Yes i remember you, how did you get my blinky username and my phone number". Johnny was quite for a while meticulously gathering what to say,he didn't want screw it up.
"I..uhmm got it fro...i mean your dad gave it to me, cause I asked". Johnny said taking a deep breath. Jenny was not convinced with his answer at all.
"So you just go around asking for people's number without their permission". Jenny said with her meanest voice, she put her hand over her mouth to prevent herself from laughing out loud.
"Am sorry,i just didn't know how to ask you personally,i didn't mean to piss you off". Johnny said slowly.
"It's fine Johnny, relax okay I was just messing with you". Jenny chuckled.
"oh okay, that was a good one". Johnny said laughing awkwardly."Also everyone at college is on blinky app,all i had to do was search and i found you".He added.
Jenny was silent, that last statement sounded like a confession or was she reading too much meaning into it, the tingling sensation in her stomach made her both uncomfortable and excited at same time.
"oh uhmm okay, thanks for reaching out to me,am all better now". Jenny said as soon as she found her voice.
"It's nothing,i just wanted to check up on you".
Adams came just as Jenny was dropping the phone,he had a puzzled expression on his face.
"Don't even give me that look dad". Jenny said looking at Adams.
"Who was it?
"It was aunt Laura okay".
"It can't be, cause I just spoke with her few seconds ago". Adams was smiling widely, Jenny squinted her eyes and said"I think you already know who it was dad, did you give my number to anyone?".
Adams backed away from the bed and shrugged his shoulders, feigning ignorance.
"I don't think so".
"Well I actually think you did cause someone just confirmed it. Adams laughed heartily, and threw his hands up in total surrender.
"Alright,i gave it to a fine gentleman, i know you don't mind at all".
"But dad you should have at least asked me first"
"You wouldn't have agreed, you're my daughter,i know what you answer would be".
Jenny swallowed back her words, he was right, she wouldn't have agreed anyway.
