Old Gu Mansion.
The sun set quietly. Due to the intense heat today, Housekeeper Sun ordered the servants to decrease the temperature of AC. Matriarch Gu is getting on age and now she easily falls ill with changing weather patterns.
Checking around the kitchen making sure that the dinner is being prepared as ordered and after giving some instructions, Housekeeper Sun walked around the house and headed up to check on the current owner of this enormous mansion.
He walked towards the study, his footsteps light, as he knew the Old lady must be talking with her son and daughter-in-law. Matriarch Gu has retired from the corporate world for a few years with the excuse of old age and handed over everything to her son and grandson, currently holding the position of the Chairwoman of the vast Gu Empire.
He knocked gently on the door.
"Enter," came a soft voice.
Housekeeper Sun entered the room and bowed respectfully.
"The dinner is ready, Matriarch Gu."
The woman sitting in wingback chair hummed mildly.
"Has the young master arrived yet?"
"Not yet, but assistant Lu has confirmed that he will be dining here tonight."
Huang Yunxia, Gu Shaoyuan's mother smiled and said to her mother-in-law, "Mother, he must be on his way. He knows not to keep his grandmother waiting."
Gu Wei agreed with his wife and added, "Mom, I will give him a call to see where he is."
At this, Matriarch Gu raised her hand to stop him and said calmly, "There's no need to rush him. We will wait a little longer for him."
Housekeeper Sun nodded in understanding and left the room, closing the door behind him.
Matriarch Gu let out a soft sigh and remarked, "Shaoyuan is already twenty-eight this year. How time flies! I sometimes worry about his marriage. He still does not seem enthusiastic about his engagement. I wonder what's on his mind."
Gu Wei comforted his mother, "Mom, he is focusing on his career. Regarding his marriage, I'm sure he will listen to your arrangements."
Matriarch Gu replied nothing.
After a few minutes, a servant came knocking on the door.
"Matriarch, young master has arrived."

Yan Xiao followed Gu Shaoyuan through the familiar mansion. By the time they reached the living room, three people were already waiting for them. Gu Shaoyuan warmly smiled and greeted them.
Yan Xiao bowed respectfully and silently looked at the elderly lady sitting in the main seat. Even after all this year, the woman's presence still commanded respect. Her now silver hair, framed a face marked by wisdom and poise.
Sensing a gaze, Matriarch Gu looked at the side and noticed Yan Xiao.
"Xiao Yan, you are here too."
