Chapter 1 - Meet Skylar

Skylar, a 22-year-old, woke up early in the morning on her graduation day. As she looked outside the window of her room, she saw her garden and her neighbor's garden. The sun was shining bright and her room was filled with sunlight. Skylar was feeling nervous and excited at the same time. She had mixed feelings about her graduation day. She was happy that she was finally graduating, but at the same time, she was worried about what the future held for her.

Skylar sat in her bed, lost in thought about her love life. She had always been shy and it had kept her from finding love for many years. She felt insecure as she watched her friends in happy relationships. But today was her graduation day, and she was determined to make the most of it. As she looked out the window and saw the sun shining, she knew that anything was possible.

Skylar had always been drawn to the intricacies of the human mind. As a psychology student, she spent countless hours studying the complexities of the brain and the way it influenced behavior. But when it came to expressing her own emotions, she found herself struggling to put them into words.

That was until she discovered painting. It was like a light had been switched on inside of her, illuminating a part of herself she didn't know existed. With every stroke of the brush, she could convey the raw emotions that words failed to capture.

Her canvas became a portal into her soul, a place where she could unleash all of her thoughts and feelings without fear of judgment. And as she lost herself in her art, she found that the pieces she created were more than just paintings, they were an extension of herself.

Skylar's love for painting grew deeper with each passing day, and she found herself spending every free moment in her makeshift studio, experimenting with colors and textures, and exploring the endless possibilities of her craft. It was through her art that she discovered who she truly was, and she knew that she would never be the same again.

Just then, there was a tap on her door. It was her mother calling out to her, "Skylar, did you wake up?" Skylar replied, "Yes, Mom. I'm up."

Her mother came into her room and hugged her tightly. "Congratulations, darling. I'm so proud of you," she said. Skylar smiled and hugged her back.

After finishing breakfast, Skylar's father asked her if he should drop her off at university today, to which she replied, "Sure." As Skylar sat in the dining room, her father finished his breakfast and went to the couch in the drawing room. The drawing room and kitchen were connected to each other, and behind the couch, there was a large glass door that opened to the garden. The house was filled with sunshine due to the beautiful weather. Skylar's mother suggested they enjoy a barbecue in the evening in their garden, to which Skylar agreed. Her father said they should plan something to celebrate Skylar's graduation. Just then, Skylar's phone rang in her room on the second floor.

"Someone's phone is ringing," her dad said.

"Oh, I left my phone in my room, dad can you bring it to me?" Skylar asked.

"Sure, one moment," her dad replied. Skylar finished her breakfast and put her college bag on the couch. Her dad came down the stairs and gave her the phone to her.

"Come outside, I will wait in the car," he said.

"I will, after taking this call," Skylar replied.

Skylar was on the phone with Chloe, who said, "Hello, Skylar, sorry I was busy on a call, did you call me?" Skylar replied, "Yes, I was calling you for help choosing an outfit for today." Chloe asked, "Oh, should I help you now?" Skylar said, "Thanks, now I am ready for going to university. By the way, are you coming now or later?" Chloe responded, "Yeah, I am coming, and my new friend is going to drop me off today." Skylar asked, "A new friend?" Chloe said, "I wanted to tell you, but we are still dating secretly, but he is Jacob." Skylar congratulated Chloe and said, "Lemme go to the car, my dad is waiting in the car." Chloe said, "Yeah, sure. Bye, see ya." Skylar replied, "Yeah, see ya."

Skylar felt insecure about her love life after hearing about her friend's new relationship. She was still single at 22, and her shy nature made it hard for her to approach boys. While holding the phone in her hand, lost in thought, she wonder why she couldn't find a boyfriend. This made her emotional. Suddenly, her phone beeped again. It was her father calling, telling her to come to the car as he was waiting for her. Skylar replied that she was coming, but her voice sounded sad. Her father asked if everything was fine, and she replied, "Yes, everything is fine. I am coming." She put the phone in her bag and tried to control her emotions, as she always did. She was confused about why she was feeling sad.

Skylar went downstairs and saw her dad waiting in the car. As she got closer to the car, she felt a lot of emotions that she couldn't understand. She felt like something was missing in her life, something that her friends had already found. Her dad noticed her sad face and asked if she was okay.

Skylar said she was fine, even though her dad could tell something was bothering her. They drove through the countryside, passing small towns and farms. Skylar's house was outside the city, surrounded by green fields and forests. She loved living there because it was quiet. But today, the scenery didn't make her feel any better.

While they were driving, Skylar couldn't stop thinking about her love life. She had never been in a serious relationship and didn't know why. She was shy and reserved, but she wanted to find love like her friends had. She wondered if she would ever find someone who loved and understood her.

As they drove past a couple walking hand in hand, Skylar felt sad and jealous. She turned her head and looked out of the window so her dad wouldn't see. The car ride felt really long, and Skylar felt like she was trapped in her own thoughts.

Finally, they got to the university, and Skylar's dad dropped her off at the main gate. She walked to her department, lost in thoughts about her love life. She felt empty and sad for a while. But as she reached her classroom, she took a deep breath and tried to forget her feelings. She had a graduation to attend, and she wanted to enjoy it.

While Skylar made her way to the spot, she noticed several couples strolling hand in hand, which made her feel envious and insecure. She wondered why she was alone on such a special day. She had always imagined being in a loving relationship by now, but instead, she found herself walking alone. Her thoughts drifted to the past, recalling all the missed opportunities and relationships that never materialized. She tried to shake off the negativity and focus on the present moment, but it was easier said than done.

Unexpectedly, Matthew, her classmate, approached her and complimented her outfit. They both revealed that they were feeling jittery about the ceremony and puzzled about why people were bringing their partners. Skylar felt a wave of relief that she wasn't the only one feeling that way. As they continued to chat, she felt herself relaxing and enjoying his company. They talked about their shared interests and hobbies, and Skylar found herself laughing and smiling more than she had in a long time.

Skylar and Matthew were standing outside of their classroom, Matthew was busy on his phone but Skylar was lost in her thoughts and Chloe arrived with Jacob accompanying her. As they neared, Skylar felt a sharp twinge of jealousy and insecurity. Jacob was tall and attractive, which made her self-conscious. Chloe made introductions, and Jacob shook their hands. Skylar couldn't help but feel envious of Chloe, who had found someone so charming and handsome.

"Let's go inside," Chloe directed, leading the way. As they walked towards the auditorium, Skylar couldn't help but feel a sense of loneliness. She longed for someone to hold her hand and share this moment with her. She tried to push the feeling aside and focus on the ceremony, but it was difficult to ignore the couples around her.

Jacob, on the other hand, was struggling with his emotions. He was already in a relationship with Chloe, but he found it challenging to disregard his increasing attraction to Skylar. There was something about her that drew him in, and he found himself wanting to spend more time with her. As they took their seats, he couldn't help but steal glances at her, admiring her beauty and intelligence.

The more he got to know her, the harder it was to deny his growing feelings. He knew it was wrong to feel this way, but he couldn't help it. He found himself daydreaming about what it would be like to be with her, to hold her in his arms and kiss her. He knew he had to be careful, but it was becoming increasingly difficult to resist his desires.
