All the beastmen in the city were astound by the appearance of the dark hole in their sky, many were antsy and every one was holding onto what was precious to them dearly. Was this their end?! Was the god beast displeased with something? Where were they to run off to?!
In a small stone house, a man with a bent back was pacing around the room in frustration. The thing in the sky was spooking out the residents and he needed to calm them down with something somehow...he thought if what to tell them but he was afraid he'd be facing repercussions if something else from what he said happened.
A loud thud in his door startled him and he frowned. He was respected and no one had ever dared to intrude his property in such a manner. "Beast Witch...open up!!!" The knocking intensified along with the person's voice. "We need your knowledge...open up!!!" the knocking persisted.
Looking at the entrance, he gritted his teeth but didn't dare go to open that door! "I think it'd be wise to open the door! You'll loose your credibility if you run away when the city of beasts needs you!" a foreign voice spoke startling the beast witch that he spun to its direction with hostility.
Parrick rose from where he had been standing and came forward. Beast witch....don't tell me that you completely have no idea what's going on out there? But you speak to the gods.... didn't they tell you anything?!" he taunted.
"A parrot beastman like yourself should know when not to run his beak! I can make your life hell!" Beast witch threatened looking at the beastman in his place. He hates these creatures and mostly this one in particular.
I'd like to see you try!" Parrick sneered and looked around the room with a look that says filthy! "Anyway, don't bother your old brains, it's a message from the gods. Don't ask me how I know..if your so curious go to the city Lord. The gods are going to send us a gift that shall come with trials as well for the future of the beast world. Use that to calm the beastmen, his Highness hates the noises they are making." he said and walked off to the door.
How can I trust you?!"
I don't need you to. I'll gladly watch as your kicked out of the city for being a liar." Parrick stepped out through the back door and flew back to meet his lord.
The words from the beast witch spread like wild fires in the city killing the tension of the beast men and igniting a new spark and hope, a few even went ahead to inspect the place after hearing that a gift from the gods would fall from there!
With the oddity cleared, the city was back to its liveliness this time a hundred times fold with flying beastmen patrolling the hole, it went on for days but nothing fell from there, however, it seemed like the black hole was disappearing.
Witch master ...the door is closing and nothing is coming out .....did the gods change their minds?!" A male asked. They were in a meeting to discuss how the god's gift was going to be handled.
With his grey stick and numerous hides hanging from his bent body, the witch master cast a glance at Parrick who was standing just behind the city Lord. " That was the only message I got from the gods... we'll just have to wait!" he said looking at every chief in the room. He could see the doubt in their eyes at his words.
The city lord stood up from his seat and everyone looked at him questioningly. The city lord looked back at them with the same look, being a spirit beast, he had lived long and lost interest in life but that changed when he was brought to this city as a cub and his last three decades had been spent here.
What?" he asked.
"The issue concerning your mate..." one chief dared.
"Don't want to " he said and elegantly walked out of the room leaving all the chiefs with constipated looks. They looked amongst themselves and shook their heads in resignation. This had been going on for the past ten years, initial, they thought he had a special taste in females and all kinds were brought forth but he still refused blantly numbing their scalps. He was already a nine level beastman at such a young age which was rare and coupled with his mysterious character, they felt helpless against him.
Parrick hurried behind the city Lord. "My Lord...how about you reconsider the Chief's words .....a total of twelve females have been specifically kept aside so you can choose but if your still this defiant about accepting them, they are going to be presented to the other males ...."
"So be it! Let a bone fire ceremony take place and have those females select their males. I'm not interested."
"But all of them are hopeful that you'll join their family." Parrick added.
"Do females fly??"
"What?!!! I've never seen one." Parrick said with a frown.
"Then why...." he said nonchalantly pointing to the sky where a female was descending at a super sonic speed with a loud scream on the top of her lungs.
Parrick gaped at the sky in disbelief. The female clearly had no wings...so how come she was up there! Also...there were no flying beastmen settlements from where the female came from!!!
"Ahhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!" the female screamed falling from such a high altitude and her scream died down the next minute.
"My Lord ...we didn't save her!!!!!" Parrick gaped in utter shock and disbelief.
"Her scream surely attracted a number of other males. They'll go rescue her...and you too can go if you badly want to."
"Huh!!!!!" Parrick was dumbfounded.
"Look!" he said and indeed a group of flying beastmen and other land beastmen were sprinting to the direction the female had fallen in.
