In the short time it took him to develop the behemoth physique his stats had a massive change. The damage that was done to his body after healing pushed him to the orange stage, and while sealed away for his own safety by his talent, the behemoth physique gave him a massive boost in stats.
On its own those two factors pushed all of his states up to 1000, and under the effect of his talent it pushed it up to 4000.
"Another reason that I should increase my level. It makes my talent better and increases the benefit that I get out of it. Shame that I will need a massive boost to increase it any further."
After every major stage, or every 25 levels, the difficulty of increasing your level spikes. This usually only really matters at level 75, but as his talent is passive he doesn't gain levels the same way most others do.
For almost everyone else they use their talents like skills and gain levels when they become more accustomed to it, but his is always active and the only way to gain levels would be to suppress it. If he gained levels passively then he would have been a legendary rank awakened the day after awakening.
After reaching 1000 in stats there was another qualitative increase in the value of a state point. Compared to before 100 it was now 100X more difficult to gain another one, which made the stat increase from his talent even more valuable.
Looking back, he remembered that John's highest stat, vitality, reached just above 5000 with strength not that far behind and everything else barely passing 3000. If he made no progress, which wasn't strange for such a short period of time, then Ray was currently a more well rounded and in some aspects more powerful awakened than him.
That kind of growth in less than 3 months was astounding. But It wasn't an equivalent amount of time. While the days and nights in the new world are almost twice as long as the ones on earth, one day is the same as one day.
The membrane-like barrier that he passed through when he was forced into the new world was more than just a separation of different dimensions, there was a time dilation effect.
One second in the new world is stretched out compared to the old world, almost reaching 2 seconds. So while the same amount of time had passed, namely one second, a person in the new world would experience the equivalent of just shy of two.
The 3 months that he spent in the new world is the same as one and a half months on earth. If he returned now they might still be trying to cover up for the inventory accident he caused, or maybe they washed their hands with it and left it up for the government to fix. They could easily argue that this was some new type of short lived but volatile portal that hadn't been seen before and was out of their jurisdiction.
Such things happened ever so often and it wouldn't be weird for it to happen there, especially since it left an interesting crater in the ground.
Either way when he returned to the old world he wouldn't have anything to do with them anymore, from the moment the guild master's father abandoned him any and all ties that they had were already severed.
This was mostly because he thought that Ray would die almost instantly, and rightfully so, and didn't want to waste resources trying to find a dead body, especially since he already served his purpose.
Just the fact that he managed to recreate the heart of mana was enough proof that it could be done and such with a powerful and influential family it was only a matter of time until they achieved it as well.
But that doesn't mean that he forgave them either, they practically pushed him down a cliff and left him for dead. With the combined power of 4 supremacies they could have easily used many other ways to contain him.
"I guess that's what I get for being an F rank, I was beyond foolish to think that they would have cared about me just because she told me about the shortcomings of the ranking system. To them I was just a proof of concept, each and every one of them awakened as a S rank, why would they care about an F rank even if they knew about the faulty system?"
"Even if an F rank talent might become more powerful after training, so what. Why would they go through the effort of doing so? That bitch only trained me so that I would live long enough to give them enough data. Knowing their kind they would have probably gotten rid of me after they were finished to get rid of any potential future problems. As an F rank they could kill me and get away with it even if they didn't have a reason."
The more he thought it over the more angry he got, not at them but at himself. With the life that he lived up until this point he knew very well how the upper class in the old world operated.
While the old world wasn't as bad as it was 100 or so years after the calamity, most of the world besides directly outside of major cities is completely barren.
The more powerful families, companies, government and the mage academy completely monopolizes all food, housing, building resources and especially medicine that are harvested from the new world because only they have supremacy or higher ranked powerhouses that are capable of bringing these back.
Not even that but they try their hardest to block access to the new world to those who are not a part of their circles. Guilds often have major backers behind them and if you can get on their good side then they might give you the chance to visit the new world. Or even live in one of the many compounds that they created.
You would live no different from a slave there; it wouldn't be much different than the old world if you don't have enough status or power but at least you have clean air and good food.
There is a reason that guilds and similar organizations are oftentimes responsible for dealing with portals that gates up. One part was to ensure that chaos didn't ensue but the major part was to prevent people from sneaking in and clearing the gates without proper clearance.
The few that manage to do this are hunted down and either forced to join or dealt with swiftly. When one enters the new world for the first they are able to go and come as they please and that kind of variable is not welcomed by the big guys.
For comparison, the human population on earth had reached 6 or so billion, nothing compared to the 10 billion before the calamity but still good progress compared to the few hundred million a few years after.
In the new world however, it barely reached 1 billion. 5 times as many humans were forced to live in cramped, unhygienic, poor conditions in the old world when there was more than enough space, infinite actually, in the new world. And this was done very much on purpose.
And it was these people that he had put his full trust in because they gave him a few million dollars, actual pocket change.
"Sucks to be poor huh. I of all people should have known how these people operate and a little money was more than enough to get me to flip on my head. Guess that's why they keep the people poor, hungry and sick, easier to control them like that."
A bit depressed he collected his things and started to move further into the forest as he continued to collect everything shorter than a bush.
"Maybe I should be grateful that I was forced into the new world, if they managed to keep me in the old world then there is no telling when, or if ever, I could come here. And because I was forced in, I should be far from any major human civilization so they can't hunt me down after."
He shook his head in pity and picked up the pace. "But what do I do now?"
