Zara had never looked more beautiful. She stood, fingers gripping mine so hard her knuckles were white. The morning sun beamed down on us as if God Himself was spotlighting her. The warm light caught in her hair, sparkling in those gorgeous waves that she had left long and loose, just the way I liked them. Her skin seemed to glow, marred only by that red line at the base of her throat that made me rage every time I saw it. But I forced myself to raise my gaze back to her face, and to focus on her words, urging her forward with my heart every moment.
"We are so glad you could be here with us this morning as we step into this life, and into this rule together," she said, calmly, but loudly, her voice ringing across the courtyard so even the most distant crowd would hear her.
