I didn't see much of my father for the next couple days. Mom was in and out, talking to me about dreaming, insisting that we had to "hone my gift."
She gave me breathing exercises and tips for how to get my body to sleep even when I wasn't tired. We spent every afternoon practicing sleeping. Which was ridiculous. The problem was, I was so frantic about not wanting to leave, that even when I could get myself to doze off during the day, I didn't go anywhere, because I didn't want to.
"…You have to be really intentional about it, Zara. Make sure you know where and when you're going. If you try to return to a time you've already been, it won't work. So, make sure and focus on the future or… or a time when you know you weren't there."
"It won't work? Why not?"
