I was a young man, strong and athletic, pegged for Officer material, but still uncertain of my future when my mother told me that the only thing that could break a strong man was love.
I laughed at her.
She may have already been a full foot shorter than me, but she glared up at me, hands on her full hips, and shook her finger in my face.
"Mark my words, Gabe. You are a fool if you do not: Any man might be strong of body and be harmed so he is weak. Any man might be strong of ambition, but it only takes another with greater will or better support to lower him. But a man who is strong of character cannot be moved... except by love.
