"David?" Zara's voice—tremulous, so pleading—as she turned, eyes wide, searching for me because she knew my voice. But I never took my eyes off of Fireknight.
To my right and slightly behind, Stark was giving instructions to the twelve men still with us to surround while the Defender was distracted.
But none of us had ever anticipated what that cunt would do.
"Zara, come here," I said through my teeth, my blood running cold at the chilling look on Fireknight's face.
