Volume 2 Chapter 46: Space-Time Spells

[Carmilla's POV]

[Status Effects]

[Buff]

1. [N/A]

[Debuff]

1. [Badly Paralyze]

2. [Mana Strain]

After opening my status effects menu, I saw two different pages: one for [Buff] effects and another for [Debuff] effects.

Of course, there is nothing on the [Buff] page since I haven't received any buff effects yet.

But on the contrary, the [Debuff] page contains two different debuff effects, and the [Badly Paralyzed] effect is quite straightforward based on its literal meaning and my current condition.

But I still decided to click on it by just thinking of it, that is when I saw the same blue panel appeared when openning my status screen.

[Debuff]

[Badly Paralyze II]

[Makes the Player unable to move for the remaining time until the status effect wears off.]

[04:23:54]

As I suspected, there's a short description of the meaning of paralysis along with a timer ticking down. It seems that Vespera's estimated time was correct about how long I'll be paralyzed.

The [Mana Strain] debuff was different. While I understand the meaning of the word "strain" when it's associated with muscles, when it's linked with mana, I can't guess its literal meaning. How can you even strain your own mana?

'But I should check on it, not just waste my time guessing its effect.' Thought Carmilla.

[Debuff]

[Mana Strain]

[Makes the player feel extremely tired when using mana.]

[03:22:44]

'Oh, I get it now. This debuff is why I feel tired all of a sudden when using my mana similar how a strain muscle feels like.'

At first, I thought that my racial skill, [Immortality], got deactivated or the game bugged out. This skill shouldn't let me feel tired, no matter how strenuous the activity I would do, and it should also remove all of the status ailments I receive, like when I was fighting the [Fast Snakes] and the poison status ailment I got was instantly nullified.

'But I guess if the debuff I got from the backlash got nullified instantly, it wouldn't be a backlash or a punishment. But even so, this racial skill is still pretty overpowered.' She thought that, while looking at the [Immortality] skill.

[Immortality]

[Level: Max]

[Passive Skill]

• Grants the user unlimited stamina.

• The user no longer requires food or sleep.

• Nullifies Body and Mind-type Status Ailments but receives continuous damage when exposed to sunlight.

• Receives 3x damage from fire magic, light magic, and holy magic.

• Health potions, mana potions, and stamina potions are rendered ineffective.]

'That's when I heard Pepper ask the question I also wanted to ask. Now that I can think of it, can't I just use our connection to communicate with them? But that can wait for a while. I need to hear this.' She thought to herself.

[3rd POV]

"By the way, Vespera, can I ask what the result of this round is? Where did Master Carmilla's spell first landed?" Pepper inquired, her gaze shifting towards the targets, which displayed varying depths of cuts—from very shallow ones barely as deep as a toothpick to cuts as deep as a ruler.

She asked this because they didn't know where the first rogue blood slash had landed. In fact, they hadn't even seen if the first rogue blood slash hit the target at all.

"I'm pretty sure it landed on the ground first but not a hundred percent that if it really first landed in the ground, I'm also not that sure okay."

That when another voice sounded near them.

"I can help with your problem." The voice offered.

Vespera looked towards to her left to see that Tria was by her side. Pepper and Eve, who were looking towards Vespera, didn't expect to suddenly see Tria appear beside her.

"Whoa, your majesty Tria, you surprised me by suddenly appearing beside me," exclaimed Vespera, who had the same reaction as Pepper and Tria.

Pepper and Tria wanted to say to Vespera, 'You acted the same as her, why are you acting like that?' But it was more important to ask Tria what she meant when she said, "I can help with your problem."

Pepper, as usual, took the lead in communicating, by asking, "Tria, what do you mean by 'I can help with your problem,' and how did you suddenly appear beside Vespera?"

While it's important to ask Tria what she meant, it's also crucial to inquire about how she suddenly appeared beside Vespera. After all, the idea of instantaneously appearing and disappearing seems intriguing and could be useful for pranks.

"Oh, that's easy. I just used space magic to teleport, and since this whole place was created by me, I can easily do this."

After Tria said that, she began teleporting all around the place. After doing that for several seconds, she teleported back to Vespera's side.

"And to answer your first question, I can solve it by using time magic to make a projection of what happened earlier."

"Wait, Your Majesty Tria, isn't that going to use up a lot of mana?" asked Vespera.

"Nope, it won't cost that much mana since, as I said earlier, I practically made this whole place, so basically, I can easily manipulate it," answered Tria.

"Even time?"

"Yes, and since it only happened a few minutes ago, and I will only make a projection, it won't cost that much mana," Tria explained confidently.

Eve and Pepper, who witnessed Tria's display of space magic by teleporting all over the room, were still in shock. But when they heard Vespera and Tria discussing time magic, they couldn't help but think about how powerful these two really were to casually use space magic and talk about using time magic just to know the results of their competition.

Carmilla, still facing the other way, was out of the loop from hearing what they were talking about, especially when she saw Tria appear in view before instantly vanishing.

Carmilla attempted to communicate with Eve, who was beside her, asking her to lay her down on her back. However, every time she tried to use their connection to communicate, she would suddenly feel tired.

That is when Carmilla realized that their telepathic communication was using a minuscule amount of mana, which was unnoticeable under normal circumstances. However, with the [Mana Strain] debuff in effect, it made her unable to communicate with Eve or Pepper using their telepathic connection without feeling extremely tired.

Without any method to communicate, she had no choice but to remain clueless about what was happening. Luckily, her hearing wasn't affected and was still normal, so she could still hear the conversation around her.

The room/cave started glowing with black and white colors, catching everyone's attention.

In front of Eve, Pepper, and Vespera, Tria begins using a simple time spell that can show what happened in the past as long as the event wasn't too far in the past and they weren't planning to intervene or change it. The mana cost should be manageable and within Tria's mana consumption tolerance.
