Volume 1, Chapter 79: The Mysterious Observer

A pure-blood vampire's progression is akin to advancing with a rocket strapped to their back, given their incredible power and numerous advantages. However, it's important to note that pure-blood vampires are exceedingly rare, and they may not be born for decades, centuries, or even millennia, making their emergence a matter of pure chance.

Similar to how the birth of a pure-blood vampire can be exceptionally rare, the occurrence of a new pure-blood vampire being born soon after another is an unprecedented event that has not transpired. If such a situation were to arise, it could potentially lead to the vampire race achieving world domination. However, as of now, this scenario remains purely hypothetical.

Such an event could disrupt the delicate balance of the world, causing significant consequences and changes across the board.

Okay, enough with the discussion about pure-blood vampires, non-pure-blood vampires, and bloodline purity. Let's get back to the current situation.

==================================

The unknown being shakes his/her head, clearing away unnecessary thoughts, and continues to watch Carmilla's progress in her first fight, which is super easy with the help of a clone with the same stats as Carmilla. Then, she observes their fight with the fast snakes, which nearly killed Carmilla and her clones.

Even after the fight, Carmilla appears unscathed as when she first enters the trial, thanks to her [Immortality Lv: max] skill doing its job. However, the unknown being can clearly sense Carmilla's extremely weakened life force, as it is very low at that moment.

Next, Carmilla's two clones begin leveling up their skills, which deeply shocks the unknown being when he/she see it for the first time, as he/she didn't know that the Clone skill could work in that manner.

???: "Huh, why didn't [???] make use of this skill function? He might have become one of the most powerful beings at that time."

But upon seeing a clone of Carmilla leveling up their skill, which usually takes a very long time for a skill to do, and considering that [???]'s skill levels at that time were already high, so using this skill function seemed unnecessary for them. The unknown being also recalls that the original user of the Clone skill was from the human race and didn't possess the [Immortality Lv: max] skill, which grants them unlimited stamina and an exceptionally long life.

With the [Immortality Lv: max] skill, as long as they are not killed, they can essentially live for as long as they desire, experiencing a form of short-term immortality, as the skill's name suggests.

Seeing what Carmilla and her clones were capable of, the unknown being wanted to skip all of these tedious trials. Unfortunately, he/she couldn't make Carmilla or anyone skip any trials; for some reason, he/she could only increase or decrease the difficulty of each trial.

Even though the unknown being wanted to decrease the difficulty of Carmilla's trial, it was unnecessary because the trial Carmilla was facing was already at its lowest level of difficulty possible.

Since Carmilla's level when she entered the trial was already very low, all of the enemies she would face in the trials were either at the same level as her, slightly higher by one or two levels, or lower by one level. Carmilla could still cope, especially with the assistance of her clones.

Carmilla clearly could bulldoze the opposition, so without hesitation, the unknown being began to raise the difficulty of Carmilla's final trial to the highest level she could handle.

So, instead of facing just one flying sword with a very high amount of HP, the unknown being added another flying sword, bringing the total to two, also making them indestructible, and also included two additional indestructible statues.

Why make the number exactly 4 guards? It's because Carmilla was at level 3 at the time and could summon an additional 3 clones. So, with Carmilla and her 3 clones, they could easily handle the addition of 1 extra flying sword and 2 statues.

But even after struggling to cope with the enemies she was facing, Carmilla still didn't summon her 3rd clone.

But with careful planning, she managed to obtain the hemisphere with just the three of them, even at the cost of one clone's life.

But since her clones could be re-summoned after some time had passed, in other terms, Carmilla might as well have been fighting in a war without losing any soldiers in the process.

But after witnessing Carmilla exit through the 18th entrance, she suddenly disappeared.

The unknown being didn't react to Carmilla's sudden disappearance. The game developers aimed to make the game more realistic by using a self-learning A.I. that could be more than your typical NPC, which only follows its pre-written script.

Not only can the NPCs in this game converse with players like normal people, but they also get affected by what's happening throughout the entire game. They aren't stuck in one role and will change depending on the game's storyline.

But despite the game's realism, it's still a game, not reality. So, the developers had to devise a solution for when a player logs out of the game while in the presence of an NPC, addressing the NPC's reaction to a player suddenly disappearing.

The developers could only come up with a simple solution: the NPCs would just ignore the players' disappearance, rather than creating a random excuse like the players returning to the world of the gods, which is the real world.

The next day, as Carmilla entered the game, she spotted Eve sitting on the ground, leaning her back against the wall, before being bombarded with a flurry of notifications that began to cover her field of vision.
