Prologue: Origins

As the sun rose upon the final day, the ground below began to tremble, but everyone continued their lives, oblivious of what was to come.

"Father, the preparations have been made. I shall prepare a counterattack," my daughter stormed into my chambers, practically knocking every piece of furniture down in the process.

"No, not yet. Dawn has just arrived. It would be foolish to attack now,"

"We need to strike as soon as possible, else we'll never get another chance. The longer that monster remains out there the more people he's going to end up hurting!" she began to raise her voice at me "Lord Lucidus granted me this power, shouldn't we be taking advantage of that?!"

"I understand your anger and concern, but your powers will need to be at their maximum potential for you to take that creature on. Shall you perish, this will all have been for naught. We must keep a calm and collected mind. The time will come when he will pay for his deeds, but now is not that time,"

She was quite the reckless one, always getting into trouble and jumping into action the first moment she got. She was quite the handful to raise, even as an adult. After her passing, she had left behind two offspring. Grandchildren? I never thought I'd hear myself utter those words. 'Fate' and 'Serenity' she had come up with those two names when she was just an infant. It would break anyone's heart to see a young child grow up without a proper parent. Try as I might, I just couldn't fill the hole she had left behind.

That night, disaster struck. The attack had come a lot earlier than anticipated. Everyone in the kingdom had suddenly awoken to a loud crash. The castle had been struck down.

I rushed outside to try and contain the damage, but it had already been too late; most of the buildings had already become nothing more than rubble. After the massive tremors, followed a storm. The thunder was like nothing I had ever heard before, the lightning was pitch black and struck down with an intensity beyond anything I had ever seen and the atmosphere of it all could leave even the mightiest of warriors paralyzed in fear.

"So even the Great God of Knowledge trembles in fear at my power," I heard a deep voice scoff behind me

"I think you're confusing fear with detest," I responded "I have no reason to fear you, a foul being who rebelled against his creator has nothing going for him,"

"A rebellion? Is that all this is to you old man?" his gaze pierced through me "He saw me only as a slave! And you have the gall to defend him," the ground below his feet cracked.

"Your mind really has been distorted. If that's truly what you believe then the only thing I fear is what may happen to you in the future," I turned towards him and readied my stance.

"The only thing you have left to fear is what's right in front of you!" he let out a war cry before brutally charging towards me

"Neuro!" I shouted back "Please stop this, while you still have some semblance of will left within you," I hopelessly pleaded.

I had known Neuro since he was but a mere child. The light in his eyes had become nothing more than anger and confusion. For years, we had questioned what could've happened, something so drastic which would make him turn out like this.

No one knew of the disasters that would arise or the losses that would be suffered by his hand. Sealing him away was the last option we had, locking him away in a prison for all eternity. But we needed something else. A light, to seal the darkness.

It should have been me...
