Chapter 7 - Chapter 7 - Token

"Boom" A deafening sound echoed through the air as the dragon claw struck down. Dust filled the air as a body was sent flying over ten meters and crashed into a large pit, his life or death unknown.

Wu Jian furrowed his brow and walked over to the dragon claw-shaped pit. Peering inside, he saw nothing but flesh and blood remains scattered about. In fact, Wu Jian had recognized the person as the assassin from the Kill Tower who had tried to kill him before their fight even began. The reason he had been injured during their first encounter was due to the fact that he had not fully digested the Innate Astral Qi he had absorbed from the King Yong's residual Qi bead.

Furthermore, he had not expected that the organization would have such a terrifying weapon as the Seven Star Ancient Arrow. From the first time he was unable to dodge the shaking light of the ancient arrow, Wu Jian knew of its ability to chase and consume one's soul. Once struck, the arrow would turn into a bloody force that would continue to bite and devour one's organs until death.

"Fortunately, my heart is on the right side, and with the healing power of the Innate Astral Qi from the "Astral Qi," I barely survived." Wu Jian thought to himself, "Moreover, I was able to turn the Innate Astral Qi into my own use, which allowed me to directly reach the peak of the Great Grandmaster. How many people in this world can truly be my opponent?"

In the haze of dust, Wu Jian noticed a black object buried in the soil. He quickly formed his five fingers into claws, and his Innate Astral Qi surged, sucking the black object into his hand. The black object appeared to be a special material plaque, with a red lotus flower carved into the surface.

"Why would an assassin from the Kill Tower have such a strange object? Could it be related to other secrets? When I return, I will have the Eternal Imperial Guards investigate this further." Wu Jian's face showed a hint of doubt, but he quickly sneered, "It seems that the person behind the Seven Star Ancient Arrow is not simple. Since an expert has died by my hands, it's time to return the favor."

There are few people in this world who have achieved the level of a Grandmaster, with most either being old immortals who have lived in the royal court for many years or ancestors of powerful martial arts factions. Of course, Wu Jian, as an exception, could resist a thousand troops and ten thousand horses with his Perfect Innate Astral Qi, let alone as a Great Grandmaster in the world.

The number of Grandmasters in the world is so few that they can be counted on one's hands, and now that one has died at the hands of Wu Jian, news of this event would shake the entire world. After a short moment, Wu Jian remembered that Ye Qingfu was still waiting for him on the shore, so he tapped his toes, and his Innate Astral Qi golden wheel behind him vibrated as he flew towards the ship's direction.

On the shore of the lake, ever since Wu Jian chased after the arrow and left, Ye Qingfu was like a lost soul, staring blankly at the Jade Pure Lake. Her hands were tightly clasped together as if in prayer, and her palace dress was already soaked through, with her hair slightly disheveled, but she seemed unaware of it.

She had witnessed that terrifying and unprecedented arrow just now, even though she had been hiding behind Wu Jian. It felt like she had faced a bloody purgatory herself.

A gust of wind blew by, and in the blink of an eye, Wu Jian was standing there, patting Ye Qingfu's back and saying jokingly, "What's wrong, Chang'e Fairy? Do you need some advice from the so-called divine fortune teller?"

Hearing this playful voice, Ye Qingfu suddenly turned around and hugged the man in front of her tightly. It was as if she had caught sight of the light as a blind person and didn't want to let go. She repeated his name again and again, "Jian'er... Jian'er... Jian'er, sob..."

Wu Jian gently patted Ye Qingfu's back, and with his hand behind his back, he smoothed out the black strands of hair at her temples. He then embraced the trembling jade woman in his arms and felt the softness of her body, but he couldn't find the words to say.

Just then, the sun came out after the rain, and the bright sunlight pierced through the clouds and shone on the surface of the lake. The shimmering waves of the water could vaguely be seen reflecting a picture of a couple embracing each other, creating a beautiful and warm scene.

After crying her heart out, Ye Qingfu slowly fell asleep in the warmth of Wu Jian's embrace, with tears still streaming down her face, bearing witness to everything that had happened at the Jade Pure Lake.

The aftermath of the battle had attracted many people to the shore of the lake, including the fastest-arriving Eternal Imperial Guard and Yong King guards.

The little maid named Rong'er ran over, panting, and pointed at Ye Qingfu, who was sleeping in Wu Jian's arms, and asked breathlessly, "Young Master, how is the young lady? That thunder and lightning just now was terrifying. It scared me so much that my legs went weak," she added.

Wu Jian reached out and pinched Rong'er's soft cheek, soothing her head gently before handing over the token that the person had left behind to the Eternal Imperial Guard leader.

"It's alright, you can go back now," he said. "And Wu Qing, you should investigate this token and get back to me as soon as possible with a reply."

The Eternal Imperial Guard leader respectfully accepted the token and bowed, saying, "Yes!"
