That day was the day when Sophie blushed the most.
She showed Finn her secret diary. They held hands, and she even got to see him shirtless.
Whenever he looked at her with a smile, she felt a weird feeling rise up from her stomach.
Sophie didn't know why she felt like that, but from the research she had done online, she guessed that she was probably falling more and more in love with him.
Logging into Second Life, she rushed out of the guild building and took a carriage to the closest coastal city, where she bought a ticket to the Elvish continent.
Because she had done everything in such a rush, she managed to log out before Finn left, so she ran out of her room and asked a maid where he was.
The maid then told Sophie that she saw Finn entering Jonathan's office, so Sophie rushed to the elevator, hoping to talk to him before he left.
Clicking on the button to call the elevator, she noticed that it was going from the fourth floor, so she sighed in relief that she had managed to enter the elevator before Finn because if he used it before her, it would go from the fifth, where the helipad was located.
Looking at the shiny elevator doors that she could see her reflection in, she practiced smiling because she wanted to see Finn off with a smile.
Ding
The elevator door finally opened, but when Sophie looked at the elevator floor, she noticed something that made her beautiful smile disappear and her eyebrows scrunch up.
Finn was looking at her in shock, like he had been caught doing something he shouldn't be doing, and her mother Estelle was below him with a blush.
When Sophie saw this, she felt a slight pain in her chest.
The thought that all the things Finn had told her were just empty words appeared in her mind.
She felt her hands start shaking.
The moments that she felt embarrassed about and the times when she was falling in love with him meant nothing to him.
Her lips started quivering.
Every time he teased her or tried to touch her, it was only because he had an ulterior motive in mind.
The more she looked at him, the more her chest hurt.
And the fact that he would betray her trust with her mother made it even more painful.
Finn quickly got up because Estelle stopped holding him, and he tried to grab Sophie's shoulder.
"W- Wait Sophie thi-"
"Get out."
But before he could explain himself, Sophie slapped his hand away and, grabbing the collar of his hoodie, she pulled him outside of the elevator.
"Sophie, listen to me, please!"
He tried to get back inside the elevator, but Sophie pushed him away and entered the elevator before pressing the number four.
And as the doors were closing, she looked at him for one last time and opened her still-shaky lips.
"No. ...I trusted you, Finn."
Finn still had his mouth open as he watched the doors close and the floor number on the elevator rise while thinking that he might have just caused his treasured relationship to end.
---
When Sophie arrived on the fourth floor, she grabbed her mother's wrist and started dragging her towards her father's office.
"Stop Sophie! Let me go!"
Estelle tried to struggle, but Sophie held her with a strong grip.
Sophie didn't know the reason why Finn was on top of her mother, but she didn't care at that point.
She was too angry and sad to care about such a thing.
When she was waiting for the elevator door to open, she felt like she was on top of the world, with happiness surging from within her, but when she saw Finn on top of Estelle, her happiness came crashing down.
This extreme mood change made her automatically assume the worst, and she didn't stop to listen to what Finn had to say.
Sophie also found the fact that Finn dated her and Estelle at the same time absolutely disgusting, so she planned to destroy that relationship even if it meant destroying her family in the process.
BANG
She didn't even bother to use the door handle and just kicked the door to Jonathan's office open.
"Sophie?"
Jonathan raised his head and saw that his daughter was dragging his wife, who kept struggling to break free.
"Everyone leave."
Sophie coldly stated, and her voice made all the people that were working in the office flinch, get up, and run outside.
Looking at Jonathan, she then opened her mouth.
"Father, check the elevator camera recordings."
When Estelle heard that, her eyes widened.
She planned to delete the footage, but she didn't have time to do it yet.
"W- Wait, darling, don't listen to Sophie!"
"Check them."
Looking at Sophie and Estelle, Jonathan didn't know what to do, but he wanted to know the reason behind his daughter being so agitated because he had never seen her this angry before.
After moving his mouse and clicking a few times, a video opened on his monitor.
It showed how Estelle kept using the elevator to go up and down, but once it stopped on the fourth floor, he saw Finn enter.
["Is there a problem?"]
Estelle was shown grabbing Finn's hand, and Finn stopped.
["When I saw you get all sweaty during those exercises in the gym, I got really excited, so you should take responsibility."]
Estelle's voice sounded from Jonathan's speakers, and he frowned but kept watching.
Sophie's eyes also turned colder when she heard this.
["No. I am dating Sophie, and I don't want to have that kind of relationship with you, so no."]
Finn's voice also echoed throughout the silent office, and then Jonathan saw how Estelle tried to force herself on Finn but ended up on the ground instead.
Sophie's gaze turned warmer because she realized that she might have misunderstood Finn.
Jonathan also saw how Finn tripped and fell. Estelle grabbed his neck, but he kept struggling to break free.
["Let go of me, woman!"]
When Jonathan saw that the elevator doors had opened and Sophie had appeared, he closed the video.
Intertwining his fingers in front of his mouth, Jonathan clenched his teeth and glared at Estelle.
He already knew that Estelle would sometimes sleep around with other men because he didn't have enough time to fulfill all her needs.
Jonathan also enjoyed sleeping with different women, so he never tried to stop her, but he never thought that she would try it on her daughter's boyfriend.
Getting drunk with Finn made Jonathan realize that he was the perfect man for his daughter.
He also saw how strong he was today, and that only made him happier that Sophie had picked Finn as her boyfriend.
But now he found out that Estelle flirted with Finn, knowing damn well who he was dating.
Estelle may have been his wife, but their relationship had turned cold years ago. He kept pretending to be in love with her, though, because he didn't want his daughters to have to choose between him and their mother.
"You fucking slut!"
BANG
Jonathan stood up and banged his hands on his desk.
He wasn't just angry. He was royally pissed off.
This video only made him realize how Estelle didn't care that he was the one who provided all the money for the family.
Meanwhile, Estelle was stunned to see her husband shout at her because he had never been angry with her before.
"I know that you fuck other guys behind my back, but Finn?! Are you crazy?!"
"D- Darling, I can explain."
Surprised by her husband's harsh words, Estelle tried to play the victim card.
"I don't give a shit about your explanation! If you are willing to destroy Sophie's first relationship, then you should be prepared for the consequences!"
But Jonathan was having none of it, so he turned to look at Klaus next to him, who remained expressionless throughout the entire ordeal because he was trained to do so.
"File for my divorce and use this video as evidence so that I don't have to give her jackshit!"
"Yes sir."
Klaus bowed his head and immediately got to work.
"W- Wait! You can't do this!"
Estelle tried to grab Jonathan's hand, but he slapped her away.
"Yes, I can and I fucking will! Let's see how you will survive without working when I kick you out of this house!"
Dropping to her knees, Estelle started crying, but Jonathan didn't care about her crocodile tears.
Turning his head, he looked at Sophie with apologetic eyes.
"Sophie… I-"
He knew that he had made a mistake by choosing to believe that Estelle would keep her lust at bay, but he at least wanted to salvage his relationship with his daughter.
"I am going to say goodbye to Finn."
Alas, Sophie turned around and immediately left the office.
After hearing her father say that he knew about Estelle sleeping with another man but didn't try to stop her, she felt disappointed with him and decided to leave without even talking to him.
Jonathan looked at the doors of his office close after Sophie had left, and he bit his lower lip.
The relationship between him and his daughters was already horrible before, but now he felt like they were drifting even further apart.
BANG
"FUCK!"
He punched his desk and cursed out loud.
This made Estelle, who was still on the ground, flinch.
Biting his lower lip, which made it bleed, Jonathan wished to turn back time and be given a second chance to change everything, but his wish wasn't fulfilled, and even though he had a lot of money, his family was now falling apart because of his lustful wife.
---
Meanwhile, Finn got out of the elevator on the fifth floor and slowly walked with his head down toward the helipad.
He tried to explain himself to Sophie, but he wasn't given a chance, and now he feared that his phone would vibrate with a message from her, telling him that they should break up.
Slowly walking through the empty corridor, he felt his heart getting squeezed, and he felt like crying.
Finn knew it wasn't his fault, but he wasn't even given a chance to talk.
The unfairness of the situation and the fear that everything they had built with Sophie would fall apart made him feel devastated.
'…Should I just tell the elves that I won't go to that festival…? I don't feel like going without her… And what will I tell my parents? ...Fuck... Am I really cursed with bad luck…?'
Millions of thoughts kept running through his head, and the more time he spent alone with his thoughts, the worse he felt.
But suddenly, he heard someone running towards him.
Turning his body around, he felt someone run into his arms and tightly hug him.
When he looked down, he saw Sophie staring at him.
The moment Sophie looked at Finn's expression, she saw how depressed he looked and how his eyes were filled with sorrow.
His expression, which was normally always happy, looked so miserable that she felt her heart break.
"Sophie…?"
Finn spoke out with a coarse voice filled with despair.
His bangs covered his blurry eyes, and it looked like he was about to cry.
Seeing Finn in that state made Sophie realize how much he actually cared about her and how he was afraid that everything between them was over.
"I am sorry."
So she hugged him even tighter and started sobbing into his chest.
Finn had always done his best to make her happy, and when he needed her to trust him, she instantly assumed the worst without even listening to him first.
"...Mmm"
Feeling like a rock the size of a planet was lifted from his chest, Finn also hugged her and rested his head on hers.
He really thought that their relationship was over, so seeing that Sophie didn't want to break up with him made a smile bloom on his face.
Until now, he didn't see how their relationship influenced him, but after being faced with a situation where there was a chance that he would never see Sophie again, he realized that he would do anything to stay beside her.
Finn then remembered the fortune teller he had met in the game and how she had told him that his relationship would survive, but only if he was willing to sacrifice something.
And after today, he realized that if he could remain next to Sophie, he would give away everything he owned, even his soul.
