It was the day of the auction, and Finn had asked some of his gang members to find out a lot of information about the city governor before he went to the auction.
Finn wanted the slave he had come for, and he didn't want anyone to stop him from obtaining it.
His gang members found out that the city governor had an affair with his cousin, which, in the ages that the world of Second Life was in, wasn't that unusual but was still frowned upon, so Finn was happy that he had gotten some blackmail material.
With that information in hand, he had finally become the most powerful person in the entire city, and he went to the auction.
He also brought Dora and Swordfish with him because having his right hand and left hand appear with him would boost his status and make others fear him more.
Walking inside the building, Finn noticed a lot of people who were not from Leviathan. After all, there were a lot of foreigners who visited the city just to attend this auction.
The first room Finn entered was a sort of waiting room. It had tables with various exotic dishes and a bar that was stocked with alcohol.
There were a lot of people socializing and waiting for the auction to start, so the room was very noisy.
Finn walked over to the bar and sat down, while Dora and Swordfish stood beside him like two loyal bodyguards.
"Whiskey with ice."
Upon entering the room, everyone had their eyes on Finn because he was the only one wearing a mask and clothes that covered his looks completely, but none of the waiters said anything to him.
"Yes sir."
The bartender nodded and began making Finn's drink.
Normally he would chat with the customers to make them drink more, but he was too scared of his tongue slipping while talking to the infamous Black Skull, so he stayed quiet.
The atmosphere of the hall, which was previously filled with chatter, quieted down because most people were either scared of Finn or wary of him.
People that lived in Leviathan, which was the majority of the people there, were too scared to start happily chatting in his presence after they had heard how he mercilessly slaughtered two gang leaders in one night.
And the foreigners were wary of him because they noticed how the people from Leviathan started acting after he had entered.
There was only one man who had the balls to stand up and walk over to Finn.
The city governor.
In the last few days, he started to feel like his authority was slipping, so he wanted to put Finn in his place.
He walked over to him and sat down next to him.
Everyone looked at them, wanting to hear their conversation.
"Good day to you, Black Skull."
Finn raised his head from his drink and looked at the fat city governor, who was rubbing his moustache.
"To what do I owe the pleasure, Governor?"
A bored voice came from behind the black mask.
"Ha! It is funny that you yourself realize that I am the city governor, but these days I am starting to think that you are becoming the one in charge."
Although he said it was funny, the city governor was frowning and glaring at Finn.
"I see… So?"
Finn shook his glass, which made a clinking sound as the ice hit the glass.
"So, I am going to be a kind man, and if you give me half of your businesses, then I am going to leave you alone."
The city governor greedily smiled while rubbing his hands.
"What an offer!"
BANG
Suddenly, Finn slammed his glass on the counter and grabbed the governor's collar, making him flinch.
"But I have a better offer! You continue ignoring me like you have done so far and shut your fucking mouth when you see me!"
He knew how rotten the city governor was, so he had no problem acting like a thug.
"Wh- What did you say?! You will let go of me-"
"How is Matilda doing?"
The city governor wanted to call the guards, but he stopped himself when he heard Finn's question.
Finn then let go of the city governor's collar and sat back down.
"I heard that your cousin Matilda is still single even though she is already thirty. That would normally mean that she has a lover, but she doesn't want to marry him."
He leaned over to the city governor's ear and whispered.
"…or maybe she can't marry him."
"…"
The city governor's eyes became filled with terror, and he felt a lump in his throat.
He didn't know how to reply, so he just continued looking at the blue eyes that were staring at him from behind the black mask.
"Now how about my previous offer?"
Finn's agitated voice passed like a breeze, and he began to sound bored again.
"…I understand. I am sorry for bothering you."
Clenching his teeth, the city governor nodded his head.
"Where is the respect in your voice, you fucking pig?!"
Dora, who was next to Finn, raised her voice, and the city governor just looked down in fear.
"I am sorry for bothering you, sir!"
He shouted a little louder, and all the onlookers that were watching the conversation realized that there was no one who stood above Black Skull in Leviathan now.
Finn brought his hand down on the city governor's shoulder and softly patted him, which made the governor tremble in fear.
"You are excused. Now piss off before I throw up from having to look at you."
The governor only weakly nodded as a response, and after getting up, he quickly ran to the other side of the room.
Finn looked around the room and noticed how everyone was still staring at him.
"What the fuck are you all looking at?! This is not a show, look somewhere else!"
His shout echoed throughout the hall, and everyone quickly diverted their eyes from him, not wanting to associate themselves with him.
Dora, who was standing next to Finn, leaned down to talk to him.
"Sir, why are you acting like this?"
What she meant was that after working for him for six days, she realized that Finn was like her father and that he was actually a kind man, but right now he was acting like a complete asshole.
She understood that the city governor deserved it, but she didn't know why he was shouting at the other guests.
Finn lowered his voice so that no one but Dora could hear him.
"It's exactly as you said, Dora. It is acting. Think about it. If the most powerful gang leader was a kind man who forgave everyone and didn't particularly enjoy violence, then how many assassination attempts would he end up facing?"
"…A lot?"
Dora thought about it for a second and then answered.
"Precisely. Now imagine that the top gang leader is a crazy psychopath who has a short fuse and has no problem slaughtering everyone who gets in his way. How many assassins would he face?"
"Almost none, because everyone would be too scared to send people to assassinate him since, if he were to survive, he would surely hunt them down and skin them alive!"
Dora realized what Finn was hinting at and answered.
"Correct."
Finn smiled at Dora, but she couldn't see the smile because of the mask.
"That is the reason why I will become a psychopath! A psychopath so crazy that the others will start to fear only mentioning my name, and once that fear roots into their very being, not even the strongest person in the city will dare to touch our gang."
After finishing their conversation, he got up and walked over to a person who, unlike the others, was still looking at him.
It was a rich merchant who had two guards beside him, protecting him.
"I told you to look away."
Finn walked over, and his creepy voice echoed throughout the hall again.
But the merchant had a smug smile on his face as he pointed at Finn.
"I know your type, scum! But I don't fear you! There are guards protecting me and this place, so your empty words mean nothing to me!"
Finn had watched a lot of horror and detective movies, so he knew how a psychopath would act. Because of that, he knew exactly what to do in a situation like this.
"I see."
The guards protecting the merchant reached for their weapons because they felt something was wrong, but before they could pull the swords out, a dagger appeared stuck inside their throats.
They died quickly, and while falling to the floor, their eyes were filled with disbelief.
THUD THUD
Finn pulled the two daggers out and, after sheathing one of them, he looked at the merchant, who was now regretting his words and shaking in fear.
"Let me educate you."
Grabbing the merchant's neck, Finn threw him to the ground.
THUD
Before the merchant could even scream, Finn kneeled down and held his hand on the merchant's mouth so that he wouldn't interrupt him.
He then put the dagger near the merchant's throat and kept talking, as the hall was dead silent.
"I have once met a wise man, and he told me this."
Finn pushed the dagger slightly through the man's skin, making droplets of blood appear.
"MMMMMM!!!"
The merchant tried to scream and look around the room, but nobody was willing to help him.
"Life is like a terminal illness. It is transferred when two people have a child, and it always ends with death."
Bending down, Finn put his face so close to the merchant that he could see his shivering pupils.
"No matter what you try to do, it always finds a way to kill you in the end…"
"MMmmm MMMMmm mmMMM!"
The merchant was trying to beg for his life with tears streaming down his face, but Finn's hand was blocking his mouth.
After raising his head up so that he wouldn't be so close to the merchant, Finn looked up as if he were looking up to a god that watched over him.
Seconds later, he looked back down at the merchant, and his voice was now calm, like he was a priest who was helping a lost sheep find its purpose.
"Don't think of me as your killer… Think of me as your savior! For I will release you from this disease called life."
Finn then looked the merchant in the eyes, and the merchant felt like he was staring into the eyes of a blue-eyed grim reaper as he continued trying to scream for help.
"...In a way, you can say that I don't kill people. No... I cure them."
SLASH
Finn's speech ended with the sound of a sharp object cutting through meat and the sound of blood splurting.
Once the red blood splattered on the floor, the merchant's silent screams were nowhere to be heard anymore.
When Finn's dagger slashed across the merchant's neck, his eyes rolled to the back of his head, and his face turned white from the rapid loss of blood.
Finn then got up and sheathed his dagger before he started to wipe his blood-stained gloves with a white handkerchief.
He didn't feel bad about killing the merchant because he had done some research on every guest there before entering the hall and found out that this man enjoyed buying young slave girls and then torturing them to death.
This time there was nobody looking at Finn, and most of the people were so scared of him that they fell to their knees.
Finn used the moment of silence to look around the room and began speaking with his calm yet domineering voice.
"This is my city. And in my city, my words are the law."
He put his handkerchief back into his coat pocket and continued talking.
"So, when I ask you to look away... You fucking look away like the obedient sheep you are! ...Understood?"
Nobody answered him because they were scared that if they were the only ones to speak up, then he would come for them next.
"I asked a question, and you are supposed to answer with a yes. So, let's try this again. Understood?"
"YES!"
Everyone shouted while still trying to not look at Finn.
He nodded and walked back to his bar seat.
Meanwhile, Dora, who had come to respect Finn for his clever mind and powerful skills, started viewing him in a different light.
'He acts like a psychopath to protect us all, but deep down in his heart, he is actually a kind soul.'
She kept smiling while looking at him, trying to show her appreciation, but Finn was clueless about why she was suddenly happy, so he only nodded and went back to his drink.
It was true that he was only acting, but he was still angry about what that merchant's hobby was, so he was glad that this world had one less piece of shit in it.
After that, nobody opened their mouth, and everyone waited in silence for the auction to start.
Finn's gang members also cleaned up the bodies by throwing them out.
---
Once the auction hall was finally ready, the waiters invited everyone inside, and the hall was filled with chairs that surrounded a podium.
The chairs had a certain hierarchy about them, though.
The chairs closest to the podium were reserved for the most powerful people, and the ones in the back were usually for small-time merchants or such.
Finn entered first and sat down on the chair that was closest to the podium, which was in the middle of the row.
This chair was golden with red pillows, and it was reserved for the city governor.
When the city governor saw this, he just accepted his fate and went to sit in a different chair that was in the front row.
Soon, the host of today's auction entered the podium.
He had blonde hair combed to the back and brown eyes. His face was fairly handsome, and he was wearing a red vest and black pants.
The host first looked at all the attendees, and he was a little surprised to see the infamous Black Skull sitting on the city governor's chair, but he knew better than to ask stupid questions, so he immediately began the auction.
"Welcome everyone!"
The host first bowed to the audience to show his respect.
Then he straightened his back up again and began shouting to liven up the gloomy atmosphere.
"Now that you are all here, we will begin today's auction, which has a lot of slaves you can look forward to, and we also have a big surprise at the end because we have managed to acquire an extremely rare slave! With that said, let the auction officially... Begin!"
