Chereads / Journey of the Moonlight Swordsman / Chapter 66 - Black Skull

Chapter 66 - Black Skull

Finn left the bar with Swordfish and Dora, both following him from behind.

On his way out of the bar, a quest that he was aiming for, popped up in front of him called "Rival Gangs," but the rewards were hidden, so Finn just accepted it and continued walking.

Walking through the streets, Dora turned to look at him.

"If you don't belong to another gang, then who are you, and how do you know about our internal situation?"

"I bought the information."

This was an excuse that Finn had thought of before he entered the bar.

"I see. Why did you buy information about our gang in particular?"

Nodding, Dora immediately thought of another question.

"Because you were once part of the Ocean Abyss, and I am Shark's fan."

Finn was prepared for the questions because he had already expected them to be suspicious of him.

"How did you win against Tuna back there?"

Finn guessed that Tuna was probably the guy with a tuna tattoo on his head that he had sent to sleep with a quick strike.

"That's a secret, and you have already used up your question quota, so shush."

Gesturing for Dora to stay quiet, Finn began glancing around and checking his surroundings for any unwelcome surprises.

Dora wanted to begrudgingly tell Finn that she didn't know there was a certain amount of questions she was allowed to ask, but when she realized that they were nearing the Hounds' territory, she decided to stay silent and watch Finn's skills in action.

"So how will you kill them all?"

Swordfish, who had been silent until now, asked Finn.

"I never said I would kill them all. To win a war, you just have to kill the leaders, and the soldiers will turn into headless chickens after they lose their commanding officers."

Finn looked at Swordfish.

"A gang war is almost the same. Killing the Hound and some of his strongest men will weaken their gang enough for them to be taken over by another gang."

He explained as he continued walking.

"Why don't we take over their gang then?"

Swordfish asked Finn because he thought that it would be the perfect opportunity to gain new members.

"Tell me. If Shark was still alive and someone killed him, only to ask you to join them right after. What would you do?"

Trying to guide Swordfish towards an answer to his question, Finn asked.

"Join them and then stab them in the back, or even better, kill their leader!"

Swordfish immediately knew that he would seek revenge if anyone was bald enough to recruit him after they killed his leader.

"And that's the answer to your previous question."

Finn scouted the area, and after seeing that the coast was clear, he went towards the bar that the Hounds stayed in.

Meanwhile, Swordfish felt enlightened after hearing Finn's explanation, but Dora was just shaking her head at Swordfish's stupidity.

The bar that the Hounds stayed in was called Cerberus, and it was a two-story bar.

The first floor was filled with gang members that were partying, but Finn was aiming for the second floor, where The Hound had his room and a personal office.

Finn looked at the balcony that was connected to the office, but Swordfish and Dora, who followed his gaze, shook their heads.

"We can't jump up there, so do we climb the wall?"

Dora tried making a suggestion that might help Finn, but she suddenly felt a hand grab her shoulder.

"No."

Shaking his head, Finn quickly used his Shadow jump to teleport them all to the balcony.

Dora wanted to shout at Finn in surprise because she was curious about his skill, but he placed his hand on her mouth before she could let out a peep.

"Shut up. You are here to watch and not to talk."

She nodded at Finn's words, and he let go of her mouth.

Looking through the balcony window, Finn could see the Hound in his office, talking to someone else.

The Hound was a skinny, short man with a crooked back. He wasn't the strongest in his gang, but he was the smartest, so he quickly became the leader using his brain.

Finn didn't recognize the person he was talking to, but he couldn't be bothered to ask Dora, so he just stood there watching.

Dora and Swordfish were starting to get impatient because they didn't know what Finn was waiting for.

But soon, Finn, who was waiting for his Shadow jump cooldown, blinked into the room and slashed the throat of the person who was talking to the Hound.

He was the stronger of the two, so Finn chose to quickly dispose of him.

SPLURT THUD

Blood splattered everywhere, with some of the drops even hitting the Hound's face, and then the body fell to the ground.

The Hound's eyes widened in shock, but he was quick to react and punched his table.

BANG RING RING RING

The table was connected via a string to multiple bells in the building, and it worked like an alarm system that the Hound designed all by himself.

Before the other gang members, who had heard the alarm, could enter the office, Finn quickly jumped on the Hound and stabbed his forehead.

The blood slowly trickled down from the wound, coloring the Hound's face red.

But instead of the normal shocked and unwilling expression that Finn was used to seeing, the Hound looked at him with a smile as if he were saying "I will take you to hell with me.".

BANG

Suddenly the office door burst open, and the gang members rushed inside. The office was small, so only ten people could fit inside at once.

And as Finn's Shadow jump was not ready yet, he had no choice but to fight.

Dora and Swordfish didn't plan on helping Finn because they wanted him to die.

Now that he had managed to kill the Hound, he would either become their gang leader or kill them, so they wanted him to get surrounded and killed.

"You bastard, you killed our leader!"

The gang members would have been confused if their leader were to suddenly die, but if they caught someone killing their leader, then it would be different.

That would make them do everything in their power to avenge their leader, so they started rushing at Finn.

Finn swiftly sheathed his dagger and unsheathed his sword.

SLASH

He then used his Moonlight arc skill to send out an arc and his Vital hit skill to boost its damage.

This managed to kill five of the nine people in the room, but instead of running away, another five gang members entered the room, replacing the five dead.

With a lot of gang members waiting outside the room, Finn had to keep killing more and more people, only for them to be replaced by others.

Finn slashed, he stabbed, and he killed.

Whenever a person managed to reach him, he would deflect his strike and behead him.

If someone showed a weakness or an opening, Finn would immediately use that opportunity to kill them.

The gang members weren't trained soldiers, so their teamwork was garbage, and most of them didn't have a weapon.

Thus making them pigs and Finn the butcher.

This went on for ten minutes, and Finn's Shadow jump was ready to be used, but Finn continued his slaughter.

He knew that if he ran away now, Dora and Swordfish would see him as a coward, and the remaining members of the Hounds would also try to take revenge. So he decided to just become a killing machine.

Finn didn't feel anything when he was killing these gang members.

He didn't know if it was because he thought of them as NPCs or if it was because the capsule had changed his way of thinking when it upgraded his body, but he didn't really care so he continued slaughtering.

---

After an hour or so, the office became painted with blood and the bodies piled up.

Only six more gang members remained, but they were too scared to enter.

There was so much blood that it was seeping out of the room and spilling onto the floor of the hallway outside the room.

Finn, who was standing on top of the pile of bodies, had his black clothes drenched with blood.

His crystal blue sword had a deep red color, but his mask was made from a metal that made it so that liquid wouldn't stick to it.

This meant that the blood slid right off of it, and Finn's clothes, which were fully red, blended in with his surroundings, making the remaining gang members think that they were seeing a floating black skull.

"...Come here or piss off."

The gang members suddenly heard a deep, tired voice, and to them, it sounded like death itself calling out to them.

Finn's words were followed by heavy panting because he was tired from having to fight an entire gang by himself.

But to the remaining gang members, it sounded like he was angry, so they started shaking, and after seeing that the black mask was really letting them go, they quickly ran away.

The reason Finn let those few men go was because he knew that they were too scared to seek revenge, and he also wanted to slowly raise his fame, and what better way than to let some people go that would spread the word for free.

Once he saw them run away, his brain stopped supplying his body with adrenaline, and he felt how exhausted he was from the endless fight, but he still had to act calm and collected to not show any weakness.

Dora and Swordfish were still watching him, so he had to put on a show that killing this many people was nothing for him.

Luckily, Dora and Swordfish only saw the inside of the room, but they couldn't hear anything because of the glass that separated them from Finn, so his heavy panting wasn't heard by them.

His nose then scrunched up when he finally realized there was a thick stench of blood around him, and he immediately felt like taking a hot bath to cleanse himself from all the filth, but the show wasn't over yet.

First, he took a piece of clothing from a dead corpse that wasn't as dirty as the rest and wiped his sword with it.

Sheathing it, he then looked outside the window, where he saw Dora and Swordfish looking at him with their eyes wide in shock.

The only reason they didn't run away yet was because the balcony was too high, and the only way out was through the room Finn was in.

So they decided to stay on the balcony and then kill the tired Finn once he finished his killing spree.

The problem was that they didn't expect him to be this strong, and now they were doubting their decision.

Finn walked to the balcony door, opened it, and looked at the two people outside.

"Now choose. I become your leader, or you die on this balcony."

Both of them flinched when they saw the black mask and heard Finn's voice.

They immediately forgot about their plan to fight a madman like that and became too scared to even remain standing in front of him, so they both kneeled.

"Yes, we will accept you as our leader!"

"Please lead us well, sir!"

They both instantly agreed because, after seeing the slaughter that had happened, they started to think of Finn as a monster in human skin.

The leadership position wasn't the only thing Finn had received. He completed the quest, and the exp he had gotten was 5,000, but Finn was happier about the gang than the exp.

"Good choice. Let's go back."

He grabbed their shoulders and teleported them below the balcony. When he touched them, they both flinched in fear but still kept their heads bowed.

"Yes sir!"

"Yes!"

Finn would have to get used to them calling him sir, so he just nodded and began walking towards the Drowned Fish bar.

On his way to the bar, Dora gathered her courage and asked Finn a question.

"Excuse me, sir! Can we know your name?"

"Name? hmm..."

Finn thought about what they should call him because he wanted to have a different identity for his gang activities.

He wanted to rub his chin in thought, but then he realized that he was wearing a mask, which gave him an idea.

"Black Skull. Just call me that."

Happy that he had thought of a cool name, he continued walking, and Dora nodded her head because she also liked the name.

"Yes sir!"

---

The word quickly spread around Leviathan City, and soon everyone knew about what had happened to one of the top five gangs in the city.

Hounds weren't that strong overall, but they had numbers, and soon a crazy rumor spread.

Someone wearing a black skull mask walked into the bar where the Hounds were and slaughtered almost all of them, including the gang leader.

He then let the survivors go to make sure they spread what he had done.

Nobody knew who he was or where he had come from, but the now-four top gangs started to be wary of him.

There wasn't anything known about him other than that he wore a black skull mask and was strong enough to eliminate one of the biggest gangs all by himself.

But the entire city would soon come to know him as The Shark's successor and the most powerful gang leader, Black Skull.
