Chapter 39 - Bracket tournament (5)

Finn was then teleported into the waiting room, where he was automatically cleaned up and his equipment repaired itself.

This function was really handy, but outside the tournament, players had to visit a blacksmith to repair their equipment or repair it themselves.

There were some messages from the gods about them being interested in him, but none of them offered him a championship, so he ignored them and wanted to sit down, but all the chairs were taken.

He looked around and decided to ask one player if he would give him the chair he was using.

"Hey, can I sit do-"

"AAAAAHH!!! YES! ...I mean. Yes, sir! Please sit down!"

The player quickly stood up and ran to the other side of the room.

The other players around Finn, who were also sitting down, got up and went to sit in a corner that was the furthest from him.

"…"

'I mean, they do fear you, but they might fear you a little too much now! HAHAHA! Good luck finding players to join your guild if you ever make one!'

Loki kept laughing his ass off seeing all those strong players, who were like titans among men in Finn's previous life, scream and scurry off into a corner upon seeing him.

But Finn was too tired to care, so he sat down, planning to take a nap before his next match.

He then felt someone sit down next to him, so he turned his head and saw that Leo was looking at him with a calm expression, which was pretty weird since Leo's smile almost never left his face.

"Hey, Finn, you did well in your match. When I heard that recording and how he badmouthed Aunt Helen and Uncle Josh, I wanted to enter the arena and tear that fucker's head off, but there was this stupid rule that said that I couldn't intervene with a match or whatever."

"Yeah thanks… But looking back on it now, I had overreacted when I heard him mention my parents. If he was a little stronger or knew how to use the fact that my mind was clouded with rage, he could've easily won."

Finn answered, and Loki was happy that he didn't have to say anything for Finn to realize what he had done wrong.

Leo then talked about how his next opponent would be a woman, but he didn't plan on holding back since everyone in this tournament was strong.

And after a few more minutes of small talk, he let Finn sleep since he looked pretty tired.

When players went into the waiting room, their strength was restored, but Finn was mentally tired, so he wanted to take a nap.

Once he woke up from his nap, the matches had already ended, and Leo had managed to win, but the female player that he had fought had almost made him step out of the arena by using her Wind blast skill.

Since the day was still not over, the gods decided to have two more rounds of matches.

Finn was looking at the screen to see who he would be fighting next, but the other players around him were praying not to end up fighting him.

'Anyone but that psychopath!'

'Why is that monster in this tournament? Even the one I fought in a dungeon looked cute compared to him...'

'I don't want to be cut up like a kebab, please!'

Soon, his name stopped next to a player called DeadlyFairy.

It was a female player who had a skill that could charm her enemies, and once they were stunned, she would slit their throat with a dagger.

This skill was pretty overpowered at the time, but in the future, players would learn more ways to defend themselves against mental attacks, making her skill useless.

Finn looked at her, thinking how to defeat her.

She had latex full-body clothing that hugged her gorgeous figure, her black hair was cut into a bob cut, and her red lipstick made her look very seductive.

Normally she would look like an indomitable dominatrix, but unknown to everyone around her, her hands started to tremble when she saw her name appear next to Finn's.

Finn didn't have anything to protect himself against her charm, so the only way for him to win was to teleport behind her and kill her faster than she could activate her skill.

Feeling Finn's gaze, she turned to look at him but only saw blue eyes staring at her from behind a black mask that looked like it belonged to a devil.

She thought about Finn's previous match and imagined how it would feel to have her tongue cut off, not being able to surrender.

Finn went to sit down and didn't notice that she was shaking while muttering something to herself.

Because there were only fourteen players remaining, the matches quickly finished, and soon it was Finn's turn to fight.

He teleported inside the arena, and once he did, the spectators started cheering, having Finn's last match still vivid in their minds.

"WOOO!!!"

"Now for our next match-"

"I CONCEDE! I SURRENDER! LET ME OUT!"

Dina was suddenly cut off by the screaming DeadlyFairy, who looked like she was being forced to fight against the champion of the arena.

She didn't have a problem with losing since the prize for first place was a mystery, and she would rather give up than try fighting for a mysterious prize.

"…Uhhh, well then. The winner is Chained Trickster!"

That was the fastest match so far.

Finn was then teleported into the waiting room, and the audience instantly understood DeadlyFairy. If it were them in her shoes, they would have surrendered in the waiting room.

Meanwhile, Finn was standing in the waiting room with a bewildered expression on his face.

'Huh? Huh!? What!? What does she mean by "surrender"!? We hadn't even started fighting yet! I finally had an opponent that I could try my assassination techniques on, and she surrendered before the match even began!'

'HAHAHA! This is too good! I can't- I can't breathe! HAHAHA!'

Finn created a plan, prepared to reveal his identity by using his assassination technique, and even looked forward to finally fighting by using his new daggers, but his opponent ran away, and to top it all off, he now had a god who kept laughing and wheezing in his head.

"...Breathe in... Breathe out..."

After his match against GoldenLion, he decided to try to control his emotions in the future, so he took a deep breath and went to sit down.

Leo had a match against an archer that managed to fire two arrows, but Leo just tanked both of them, and once he got close to him, he pummeled him with his fists.

Finn continued his betting spree, but the matches started to deviate from his known route, so he was losing a lot of his bets.

He still managed to win some, and he ended up with a grand total of 1035 gold coins.

Normally he would be jumping with joy, but he was still angry about what had happened with DeadlyFairy, so he remained silent.

Finn also chose to not risk his coins anymore and just watch the next matches without betting.

The rest of the matches soon ended, and Dina was now letting the names shuffle again, but because there were seven players remaining, one of them would move on without fighting.

'Please not me. Please not me, please!'

The others were wishing to move on to the next round without having to fight, but Finn wanted to fight, so he was praying to get an opponent.

"And the lucky player to win by default is… Chained Trickster!"

"FUUUUCKKK!"

The other players thought that someone was cursing because they weren't that lucky player, but upon turning around to look, they saw Finn holding his head with both of his hands, looking down on the ground.

'Well, at least I don't have to fight him.'

The other players thought this while they were trying to remain positive.

After throwing a fit, Finn decided to just watch Leo's match, which was the first one, while he continued cursing his bad luck.

Leo was up against a player called WhiteTiger, and upon seeing his name, Finn immediately recognized him.

Strong body, overpowered skills, excellent equipment, and the guild master of the best guild in the world.

That was WhiteTiger in Finn's previous life. The number one player in the world, the best of the best, and the person who owned the biggest part of the planet Earth.

The current him was a lot weaker because he had yet to discover his powerful skills and equipment, but he wasn't a pushover.

WhiteTiger was someone who would reach the top, and he had the skills to back it up.

The match took only a minute.

Leo tried his best, but after he got caught in a choke hold and was unable to breathe, he got quickly eliminated.

"The winner is WhiteTiger! Once again ending his match in a record speed!"

Dina was shouting, but Finn didn't listen and messaged Leo that it was a nice match.

Leo replied that he would do his best to become stronger and challenge WhiteTiger again in the future, so Finn just cheered him on.

---

The next day, Finn was sitting in the waiting room, which now had only four players remaining.

After a quick introduction from Dina, she once again clapped her hands.

Their names then started shuffling, and Finn's name landed next to the player Magical-Bunny665.

He was happy that he didn't have to fight WhiteTiger, but his happiness didn't last long.

"I concede!"

"I surrender!"

Both Finn's opponent and WhiteTiger's opponent shouted that they concede.

Dina didn't know what to do, so after a short minute of waiting, she received the order to make them both be in third place and move Finn and WhiteTiger into the finale.

The reward for third place was a level-up coupon that the players could tear and instantly gain one level.

It sounded like a pretty bad reward, but once the player reached a high level that required a lot of exp, this coupon would be a godly item, if he didn't use it beforehand, that is.

The two players that surrendered made a deal with each other.

If they end up fighting each other, then they won't concede, but if they end up fighting that monster and that psychopath, then they will give up at the same time so that they are both in third place.

They didn't know if the administrators would allow for there to be two people in third place, but luckily for them, the gods couldn't really care less about one or two level-up coupons, so they allowed it.

"There was an unexpected situation, so we are moving to the finale of the tournament!"

Dina announced, and two players teleported into an arena that was filled with loud cheers from the audience.

"For our final match, we have the martial arts expert! The person whose matches hadn't taken more than a minute so far, and the person who remained undefeated without using a single weapon! The one and only WHITE TIGER!"

"WOOOOOO!"

"WHITE TIGER!"

"WHITE TIGER!"

The arena shook as the spectators shouted and stomped their feet.

"On the other side of the arena, we have the mysterious player who has yet to reveal his face! The person who managed to get this far by evoking fear in his enemies and the person who doesn't have a problem with mercilessly slaughtering his opponents! Please welcome… CHAINED TRICKSTER!"

"TRICKSTER!"

"TRICKSTER!"

"TRICKSTER!"

The disgust that the audience had shown him before was now gone, and they chanted Finn's name with vigor while clapping their hands.

Finn looked at his opponent with a worried look.

He knew that he would end up fighting WhiteTiger either way, but he didn't know that this match would come this fast.

WhiteTiger was two meters tall with a chiseled body that looked like it was a Greek statue. He also didn't wear a shirt to purposefully show it off.

He had long white hair with black tips and dark green eyes. His face was pretty good-looking, and Finn knew that he was in his thirties, but he looked younger than that.

His pants looked like white karate pants and his hands had white bandages tied around them.

Smiling at Finn, he cracked his knuckles.

"I hope you are strong enough to entertain me!"

'Huh? Now that I hear him talk, he acts and talks just like Leo. Are all martial artists, battle junkies, or what...?'

A little amused by the fact that he thought he was talking to Leo, Finn chuckled and looked WhiteTiger in the eyes.

"Sure. May the stronger person win."

Finn nodded and prepared to attack first after teleporting behind WhiteTiger.

"Both players get ready!"

Dina shouted, trying to let her voice be heard among the cheers and chants.

"Begin!"

WhiteTiger was about to rush and tackle Finn, but he suddenly saw him disappear.

He thought that Finn had a skill for invisibility, but he suddenly felt that if he didn't move his head, he would die.

SLASH

In the last possible moment, he moved his head, avoiding Finn's dagger, which made it nick his shoulder, and tried to counter with a grab.

Finn used Vital hit to strengthen his attack, and even though he received a 195% boost, he only managed to slash WhiteTiger's right shoulder instead of his neck.

WhiteTiger's quick reactions helped him grab Finn's head, making Finn get caught in his strong grip.

So Finn swiftly used his other dagger to stab WhiteTiger's wrist, and he immediately jumped back.

Once he was far enough away, he looked at WhiteTiger to see how big the slash he had inflicted on him was, but when he did, he saw WhiteTiger holding a black mask that he had taken from Finn when he grabbed his face.

CRACK

With a little bit of pressure, the mask was crushed by WhiteTiger's hand, and Finn's raven black hair fluttered in the wind as his now-revealed face was shown for everyone to see.

The audience, which was chanting "White Tiger" and "Trickster," suddenly stopped.

They looked at Finn's face and couldn't believe their eyes because they all recognized his face after they had seen it trending on the Second Life website.

Finally, one of the spectators opened his mouth, pulling everyone else out of their daze.

"IT'S LUNAR REAPER!"
