My name is Ola J. Morgan, the J in the middle stands for Joe . Graduated from high school after four hard years of struggle to pay the school fees. I was raised by a single mother Evenly Stacy. In Nigeria where I come from there's no such thing as good wishes, everything happens for a reason.
Life was just too fast, but spins around me so fast; like the Earth and the sun, it goes around on and on, never stops. When I completed my final exams, more concerns begun to constantly keep me worried more so; how to deal with my university, can my mom really afford the university on my recommendation list. For two weeks,All I do is to pray for good results that would at least make my mom happy. On Monday morning, third week after the exams time, the results were out. Me, my mom and my other little sister Joy were in the living room as my mom does the the process online to get the results. After entering the four digit code, the email just drops.
Soon as I heard her phone make a sound, I felt like My soul just shifted into a Angel. That kind of feeling you get when you know it was you winning. I heard my mom start with a single number "8" then became shock but this time it was a delightful one, then some how she managed to grab me from where I was standing and shouted out loud "86% for you baby boy".I wasn't moved, neither did I talk nor smile, just wanted to feel that beautiful moment.
Never knew what it was like to be hero in my own world, in my heart I felt like I conquered the whole world. The score was a milestone for me;it was the third ranking score in the entire country, a pass, all subjects clear, what else do I need.
All my friends posted and tweeted their results on social media but then I had no phone to be part of that. On Tuesday morning, Martin came to pick me up for the ceremony that was to take place in the school playgrounds. Martin was my best friend right from childhood, met in the neighborhood. He is a son to one of the most high ranking diplomats in the country. His father is the Nigerian Ambassador to France. Although Martin was from a rich family, he is just as humble as any of us. He once said he got his humble character from his father.
His father is such a humble man that Martin didn't even know they were rich till he was 13 years old. Unlike for me I never got a chance to see my father, just heard of him from mom and his folks who often speak of him. He died a week after I was born, got involved in a helicopter crash in military operations. Whenever I speak of him, tears just flow down my eyes. I know you are reading this through a copy or perhaps on your phone but believe me I already had the original paper filled with the tears. "Whoever found peace, a leader, found, Morgan Mayar" people who knew him always tell me that.
