It's been a few days since my rebirth.
So far, my days have included feeding, sh*tting, and sleeping.
An optimal life for one such as myself sure, but honestly, it's a bit boring.
I've never left the room I was born in, and the only people I've seen are my mother who never takes her eyes off of me for more than a second and the occasional maid.
They weren't the differently coloured maids that I saw at first however, now, they all wore the same mahogany dress.
Oh, I guess there's Cephiros, he...it? Hasn't really left the corner since I was born and mostly just stands there all day.
The maids and my mother seemed to be used to it at this point.
Too bad it barely speaks. If you can call beaming the concept of a message directly into my mind, speaking.
Seriously, It was such a strange feeling.
I guess there were some interesting things that I discovered.
For one, there's magic!
That's right! Magic! The power to shape reality!
I noticed that it existed when the maids used fires that spouted from their fingers to ignite the lamps. Though, I must ask whether a lighter is that inconvenient to use.
"Now Adam", I hear you saying, "Magic? That's incredible! Surely that must be of interest to you!".
And while yeah, it was pretty exciting at first, Cephiros pretty much burst my bubble with the news that one, my affinity for it is laughable in its eyes.
And two, I won't be able to actually use it until some sort of ceremony when I become 'of age'.
When is that? No clue, my good pal Cephiros didn't feel the need to include that in the information it provided.
Looking around the room, I lamented at my sleeping mother's ever-tight grip.
Suddenly, One of the curtains fluttered, revealing a figure perched on the windowsill.
A black cloak, a black facemask, black gloves, black boots, and a short dagger. All in all, a very cliche assassin.
But wouldn't a mask just make it harder to breathe? It's already night, and you're an assassin, not a thief. If you're worried about exposing your face, you probably aren't a very good assassin.
Now, "Adam!", I hear you exclaim, "That's an assassin, what are you doing? Do something!", and to you, I say this.
I've just been born. I am in the body of a newborn. What do you expect me to do? Besides, It's not like they'll get very far.
As the assassin surveyed the room, it suddenly froze. The reason?
It probably had something to do with the 3-metre-tall statue that just came to life.
Cephiros, the silent giant in the corner, appeared before them in an instant and impaled them with a spear.
I'm pretty sure the assassin didn't even see it coming, they were probably too busy admiring the mahogany furniture.
The strangest thing was that Cephiros made no sound at all.
Removing its spear, Cephiros returned to its corner.
The body of the assassin dropped to the ground with a solid thud, waking my mother.
She immediately tightened her grip on me, almost suffocating me, and jumped out of bed.
Inspecting the room and seeing the body, she immediately looked towards Cephiros.
She muttered something indistinctly and bowed her head towards it.
Double-checking my condition, she set me down on the bed and left the room briefly.
This was already the 7th attempt at my mother's, or maybe my life.
Honestly, I was pretty shocked the first time, however, at this point, it's a nightly occurrence, and my initial shock has just blossomed into a faint annoyance.
Seriously, Is their boss stupid? You'd think after the second failure they'd notice something was wrong and stop sending assassins.
But no, every night without fail, some poor soul is sent to their death.
Well, as an assassin they probably deserve it, but I digress.
Before long, my mother returned, behind her followed 6 knights wearing exquisite plate mail armour.
They exuded an aura of suppressed authority and their extravagant armour that covered every inch of skin seemed nigh invincible.
Can you guess what colour the armour was?
That's right, red.
Seriously what is the deal with this place and red? It's almost unsettling at this point.
Two of them covered the corpse with a cloth and removed it from the room, while another pair inspected, and then to my utter disbelief, jumped out the window the assassin entered from.
While I don't know particularly how high up we were as I had never been held close enough to the window, I knew it was a sufficient height, as, during the day when the curtains weren't drawn, all I could see was the red sky.
That's right, even the sky was red!
Well...no it wasn't. The sky was blue here too. But you believed me right?
Anyway...the two knights that remained at opposite ends of the room took inspiration from Cephiros and impersonated statues, their hands on the hilts of their swords red-dy to draw them at a moment's notice.
Catch my pun? I'm hilarious I know.
My mother took me in her arms once again and paced around the room humming a tune.
It was strangely relaxing.
Soon enough, I fell asleep in her arms.
The following morning, as I awoke, I noticed that I wasn't in my mother's arms, but instead, on the large bed.
Looking around, I soon found her standing in front of a large mirror wearing an elegant regal dress.
The dress looked to be made from a luxurious, silky fabric that shimmers in the light. The vibrant red colour was bold and striking, and it catches the eye from across the room.
The dress featured a plunging neckline that was accented with a delicate lace, adding a touch of femininity and elegance to the overall design.
The fitted bodice cinches at the waist, accentuating the curves of the wearer's figure, before flaring out into a full, flowing skirt that falls gracefully to the floor.
The skirt was layered with several tiers of fabric, which I imagined to create a voluminous, ethereal effect as the wearer moved.
Overall, that beautiful red dress was a stunning piece that exuded confidence, glamour, and timeless elegance.
Various maids in mahogany uniforms attended to my mother, assisting her with her makeup and hair.
Her short crimson hair was made into a simple bob-cut.
Soon, a maid entered the room carrying a simple red container.
Opening it revealed several brilliant golden necklaces with rubies inlaid along them.
Fixing them unto my mother's neck, another maid revealed another box. This box, however, was larger and decorated with golden carvings that were sure to make the box itself look more valuable than whatever was contained within.
However, when the box was opened, I couldn't help but close my eyes.
In the box lay a golden crown crafted from shimmering, polished gold that glowed in the light.
The base of the crown featured intricate designs that were reminiscent of twisting vines and delicate flowers, all etched into the metal with incredible precision.
The centre of the crown was adorned with a cluster of large, red jewels, each one cut into a unique shape that caught the light and refracted it into a dazzling array of colours.
As you move up towards the top of the crown, the gold twisted into delicate, filigree patterns that curled and looped around each other in an intricate dance.
At the very top of the crown, a single, stunning red gemstone sat nestled in a golden setting, catching the light and sparkling brilliantly.
The more I looked at it, the more I was mesmerised by its beauty.
My mother delicately caressed the glowing crown with her gloved hand before picking it up with both hands and fixing it onto her head.
Honestly, she looked as though a goddess had descended to this mortal realm.
The maids basked in her aura for a moment before bowing deeply and forming two lines of three behind her.
One last maid entered the room and took me in her arms, wrapping me in a more elegant scarlet cloth inlaid with golden patterns before standing in between the two columns of maids.
Following this, my mother spoke and exited the room, the maids and I following behind her.
Finally! I get to leave this stupid room! Maybe I'll get to play with some blocks or something.
