Chapter 1 - Biggest Mistake

"Coming!"

Liam called out to whoever was banging at the door impatiently as he rushed towards it. There were no intervals between each knocks delivered to the wooden surface and that was a telltale sign of the urgency behind whoever was knocking's situation.

He pulled the door open to the sight of his girlfriend, Divine, looking anything but pleased as she dodged his advances when he leaned in for a kiss.

"Babe, we need to talk, we are in deep sh*t" She spoke, the small space under his arm serving as an opening for her to walk inside the house, taking a few steps before she rummaged through her bag, pulling an envelope out before turning to look at Liam, who walked in after her, still dissatisfied at the fact that he hadn't gotten his kiss.

"What could be so serious that you wouldn't kiss me, I mean, it's not like anyone's dying from a terminal disease, right?" He asked, still edging closer.

Divine let out a frustrated sigh, hands almost going to grip at her hair as she resumed walking deeper into the apartment with Liam hot on her tail "No, you don't get it! It'd been a lot better if I was dying from a terminal disease" she said, finally reaching the bed and practically throwing herself on it. Tears were begining to well up in her eyes, making Liam, who now stood in front of her panic for a brief moment as she was stretching the hand carrying the envelope towards him.

With furrowed brows, he collected the piece of brown paper, quickly tearing it open and fishing another paper out of it. Sparing another glance at his girlfriend who watched him expectantly, he pulled it open and quickly scanned the paper in his hands for it's content, heart dropping to his feet as he returned his gaze to his girlfriend.

"What's this? Y- you're pregnant?" His features twisted into a frown before he added. "For whom?!"

"Yes, that's what I've been trying to say, we're in deep shit! And what do you mean for whom? Who else would it be if not you?" She asked, tears threatening to spill from her eyes when he looked at her with something akin to disgust.

"What do you mean me? Don't give me that bull. You think I haven't heard the rumors of you fvcking other guys?" He chewed out, now stepping away from her, widening the distance between them as he avoided her reaching hands like the plague.

"W- what?" She stuttered out, a tear streaming down her face at the accusation. "N- no how could you say that Liam, you know it has always been only you, why are you saying this all of a sudden" She questions, more tears freely flowing and Liam was shaking his head vehemently.

"No." He said, making her look up from where she'd been crying into her palms.

"What?"

"You can't keep this baby, you have to get rid of it." She felt her heart shatter as he said the words she'd never expected of him. "I'm too young to be a parent! Heck, I can't even take care of myself, talk more of another person right now!. You can't….. we can't do it, you have to find a way to get rid of it" He said and she blinked at him, still having a bit of trouble processing his words. She couldn't believe it. He spoke and acted differently than the Liam she'd known and had been dating for the last 8 months, it was like being slapped across the face.

"This is bad. This is really bad" he began to pace around the room before slamming the papers in his hands unto the small bedside drawer, jolting her out of her thoughts.

No words would escape her mouth when he looked at her once again before wordlessly walking to the door and pulling it open, silently asking her to leave.

Silence fell over the room like a thick blanket, with him waiting impatiently, almost tapping his feet before he finally voiced out his thoughts when Divine just stared at him dumbly.

"I need you to leave. I- I have to do some thinking and I can't do that with you here, so..." he gestured towards the door again and if her heart had shattered before, she felt it break into more tiny, unsalvageable pieces at the implications of his words.

"You're sending me away? I- I thought we were in this together? YOU SAID YOU LOVED ME!" She breathed out harshly after yelling the last part out, blinking as if realizing what she'd just done before a sob broke out again. "Please, don't do this Liam, don't ask me to leave. I need you now more than ever" She pleaded, rubbing her hands together in front of her.

His eyes shut tight in frustration, her words only seeming to anger him more and with one final shake of his head, he briskly walked back to where she was now on her knees, grabbing her arm in a bruising grip as he dragged her out of the bedroom and out of his apartment while she continued to beg and plead with him.

The last thing she saw was a grimace on his face before the door was slammed shut in her face and she was breaking down at his doorstep. The same one where they'd share hugs and silent whispers filled with confessions of thier love for each other whenever she had to leave. The same doorstep where he'd have kissed her a few minutes ago, like he always did whenever he opened the door to her. Had that all been a lie? She was hysterical when she got back on her feet, banging at the door with cries of his name and please's muttered to the wind as her forehead rested on the cold surface.

There was no telling how long she'd cried, with Liam obviously ignoring her from the other side, but when she was finally pulling away after several failed attempts to get him to let her in, so they could talk at least, it was well dark out and like it couldn't get any worse, she realized she'd forgotten her purse and phone in her haste to break the news to him.

After sparing a few longing looks at his still closed door, she decided to start the walk home, the tears never stopping as she wondered where it all went wrong, how would she continue from here.

And it was as though the heavens were mocking her when the only warning she got came in the form of a loud clap of thunder, the first drop of precipitation landing on her cheek, before it came pouring, making her cry even louder as she couldn't be heard anyways, heartbroken, drained and just done with it all as she found her way back home, the whistles of the cold breeze her only companion.

-A Few Months Ago-

With a loud groan, a hand reached out to turn off the alarm clock that sent a shrill sound through the room, the numbers

06:00 displayed on the small screen.

Divine stretched her arms out, looking around the room.

She was a young teen, orphaned at the age of 10 when she lost both her parents in a ghastly car crash. It was a very traumatic event, which was also the biggest turning point in her life. After the funeral services, with relatives she'd never known her whole life looking at her with sad eyes and spilling words they'd thought to be comforting but were rather unnerving, she found herself living with her uncle. Her dad's younger brother, having gotten all her Dad left behind, seeing as his only heir wasn't of age, now lived in their family house, and that was when her life took a drastic turn. Having never lacked anything at the start of her life, she became the modern day Cinderella in her own father's house.

Coupled with the constant insults and overworking, living with her uncle was nothing short of hell. She was 5'9 by the time she turned 16, her uncle and his wife never shutting up with their remarks about how she was 'too big for her age'.

Growing into her body as a young woman wasn't the most comfortable of experiences too, eyes never leaving her chest, which was now home to two shapely mounds, and if they did leave her chest, it'd be to stare down at her body which would warrant several unwanted compliments, growing worse now that she'd turned eighteen.

"With a body like that, it would be easy to get money off men" Amongst many other demeaning remarks, was what her uncle would say, whenever she needed one basic thing or another from him.

She'd never really been interested in things considered suitable for kids her age, her uncle's words never leaving the back of her mind, afraid she'd turn out like he'd said.

After stretching out her upper body, Divine got out of bed, feet landing on the floor sluggishly as she muttered to herself about how she was going to be late for school. She was quick to snap out of her sleepy haze, the line of chores waiting for her an effective wake up call. She pushed her feet into her slippers, grabbing her robe and pulling it over her body before she hurriedly rushed out of her room, careful not to make any loud noises to wake her uncle and his wife up.

She made quick work of sweeping around the big house, hoping her uncle's insufferable wife wouldn't notice the spots she missed before rushing into the kitchen to whip something up for breakfast. She settled for Churros, pancakes and freshly squeezed orange juice, which she hurriedly prepared, having some of it before rushing back to her room to take her bathe and before 7:30, she was rushing out of the house with a sigh of relief.

She'd successfully made it to school before the bell sounded, hurrying down the hallways before she bumped into someone, sending the books that were held to her chest flying, landing all around them, the bottle of orange juice she'd taken from home spilling out of her hand too.

"Watch where you're going! Are you blind?!" The person she'd bumped into, spat loudly and she gasped when she looked up to see the person. A man, obviously taller than her sneered down at her, his handsome features pulled into a frown, no doubt because his shirt that was now stained with orange juice, clung to his toned body like a second skin.

"Oh I am sorry, I didn't see you there, I was…. running late, so I just, I'm sorry" She rushed to apologize, getting back on her feet from where she'd been scrambling to pick her books. And she missed the way his eyes widened at the sight, breath catching in his throat as he stared down at her body appreciatingly.

"Oh that's fine. I should've looked where I was going" He says, scratching his nape, his eyes never leaving the silver of cleavage her uniform spared, she was surprised to say the least when a smile accompanied his words, no malice behind them like at first.

"No, it's my fault, I'm sorry" She said, looking at him apologetically before she was stuttering out, "I- I can't pay for your dry cleaning but I really am sorry and I hope my apology would suffice" she muttered.

"This is nothing. Apology accepted, but you'd have to tell me your name though. I'm Liam. I work here….Janitor" he introduced, extending his hand for a handshake.

"Divine. Nice to meet you"

-End Of Flashback-

"I curse the day I met you"

Divine yelled out, the sound of the rain hitting the ground drowning out her voice.

"I wish I'd never met you! And if I could turn back time, I'd live the day I met you a little differently" she cried, breaking down again as she sunk back into a squat and cried some more.
