Chapter 1 - The Criminal and The Detective

Phoebe and Ezekiel stood facing each other, their voices tense with frustration.

"I don't think we'll make a good team, Phoebe," Ezekiel said, his tone final.

Phoebe moved closer and wrapped her arms around him, looking up into his face with a seductive gaze. "Don't be like that," she whispered, leaning in to kiss him.

But Ezekiel pushed her away, his expression darkening. "Cut it out, Phoebe," he growled. "You know we can't be together. It's too risky."

Phoebe's eyes filled with tears as Ezekiel turned and walked away without looking back.

"Ezekiel, you bastard!" she shouted after him as he disappeared into the night.

[One year ago Nightstone Asylum]

A notorious prison known for its impenetrable security and harsh conditions. Ezekiel was sitting in the dark, his eyes the only thing visible. He had always been good at hiding in the shadows TEP! TEP! TEP! heard the sound of footsteps approaching TEP TEP the footsteps stop at his cell.

"Cell mate 3259, also known as The Shepherd" a guard called out.

Ezekiel remained silent, waiting for the guard to speak again.

"Don't you hear me calling you?" the guard asked, tapping his baton against the bars.

Ezekiel stepped up to the bars of his cell, his light blue eyes piercing through the darkness. "Yes, guard?" he replied coolly.

"Don't you hear me calling you?" the guard snapped.

Ezekiel looked at the guard for a moment, then a strange smile spread across his face. "Tick tick tick," he said, his voice low and menacing while tapping his fingers against the bars.

The guard's face contorted in anger. "Are you getting mad, prisoner?" he spat.

"Tick tick tick BOOM!" Ezekiel suddenly burst out laughing maniacally "MAMAHAHAHAH!!!!!" as a massive explosion rocked the prison, causing the lights to flicker and the cells to open.

Prisoners rushed out of their cells, fighting with the guards in a chaotic frenzy. Ezekiel watched with a twisted grin as the violence unfolded around him, reveling in the chaos and destruction.

He rushed out of his cell, grabbing the guard's gun the who had been talking to him earlier and shot him in the head, then dragged him back to his cell and switched clothes.

"Come on, we need more guards. Can some of you help track down the missing ten?" a guard yelled, trying to organize the chaos.

Ezekiel raised his hand. "I'll go."

"Okay." Ezekiel walks out of the prison without no one seeing him.

but after he left a guard went in his cell and found the real guard dead

"Boss yes that guard that raise his hand was The Shepherd."

"Wait what shit we need to inform the police station now the Shepherd has escaped into the world."

In the City Ezekiel walks the street in a guard's uniform. I always love to watch detective shows to be honest my mom always thought I would be a great detective she wasn't wrong I am great but as a criminal those detective shows help me stay away from the cops but something happened someone set me up I don't know how but I'm going to know who. Ezekiel thinks to himself

I should see her maybe she will know something about who set me up but first I will have to get a new face good thing no one knows my real name.

[2 hours ago Night stone police department]

Phoebe, a female detective with brown hair and pink eyes, entered the Night Stone Police Department. As she headed to her office, someone knocked on her door.

"Come in," she said.

"The boss wants to talk to you," the officer said.

"But I just came in," Phoebe replied.

"I know, but it's important," the officer said.

Phoebe sighed and followed the officer to her boss's office. She knocked on the door and entered.

"Take a seat, Phoebe," her boss said.

Phoebe sat down and listened as her boss informed her about an explosion that occurred at the NSA. "Only eleven people escaped, and one of them is the Shepherd," her boss said.

Phoebe was shocked. "Wait, you mean the guy I put in jail five months ago?"

"Yep, him," her boss confirmed.

"I'm worried about the city. We'll catch them all again, but the Shepherd is a different story," Phoebe said. "It took me five years to get him in a cell at NSA."

[Meanwhile]

In an underground doctor's office, a woman wearing a black dress with heels and a doctor's coat walks up to Ezekiel sitting in a chair.

"It's good to see you again," she said.

"Jada It's only been five months," Ezekiel replied. "I want to change my face for good and find out who set me up I have a lead. Do you think I can get a fake ID and backup to join the NSPD?"

The woman considered the request. "I think I can help you with that," she said, spinning her chair around with Ezekiel in it. "But who's your lead?"

"Simone Carpenter I should be meeting her in the next 2 weeks" said Ezekiel.

[2 weeks have passed night time Bar]

As Ezekiel sat at the bar, he mulled over Jada's words from earlier. She had given him a new face and a fresh start with the NSPD, telling him to take it as an opportunity. He absently twirled his badge and ID in his hands, lost in thought.

Suddenly, the sound of a chair scraping across the floor drew his attention. A woman had just sat down beside him. He glanced over at her, taking in her disheveled appearance and the haunted look in her eyes.

The bartender approached her. "What can I get for you?"

"I'll have what he's having," Phoebe said, nodding towards Ezekiel.

The bartender nodded and quickly poured her a drink.

"Rough day?" Ezekiel asked.

"Rough month," she corrected him with a sad smile.

Ezekiel turned to her. "What do you do?" he asked.

"I'm a cop," she replied.

"Nice," he said, taking a sip of his drink.

She sighed. "A new cop is starting tomorrow, and I just found out about it thirty minutes ago how about you."

"I'm gonna start working tomorrow." Said Ezekiel.

The bartender set down her drink, and the two of them raised their glasses in a toast. "Here's to new jobs and good luck, CHEEERS" they both said together.

As they chatted, they both couldn't help but feel a sense of kinship with each other Little did they know that they were enemies.

When the bartender left to serve another customer, Phoebe turned to Ezekiel. "Why aren't you drinking with me?" she asked.

"Because it's more fun to listen to you," he replied with a smile.

"Aren't you cute and nice," she said, giggling.

Ezekiel took out some money and handed it to the bartender. "I'll cover both of us," he said.

"No, I can pay," she protested.

"It's fine. I want to pay," he insisted.

As the night wore on, Phoebe grew increasingly drunk. Ezekiel could tell that she was in pain, and he wondered what had happened to her.

"Since you're drunk, I have an extra bed in my hotel room if you want," he offered.

"Sure," she said, slurring her words.

Ezekiel helped Phoebe out of the bar and back to his hotel room, which was conveniently located next door. As they walked down the street, he couldn't shake the feeling that there was something more to this woman than met the eye. As soon as they entered the room, Phoebe flopped down onto the bed and let out a sigh.

"Thanks for helping me," she said, looking up at him with tired eyes.

"Of course," Ezekiel replied, sitting down next to her. "Are you feeling better now?"

"A little," Phoebe said, closing her eyes. "I just needed to get out of my own head for a while."

Ezekiel nodded in understanding. "I know the feeling," he said. "Sometimes it's good to just let loose and forget about everything else."

They sat in silence for a few moments, each lost in their own thoughts. Then Phoebe spoke up.

"Can I ask you something?" Ezekiel said, turning to face her.

"Sure, anything," Phoebe replied.

"Why did you become a cop?" Ezekiel asked. "I mean, it's not exactly an easy job."

Phoebe thought for a moment before answering. "I guess I just wanted to make a difference," he said. "I wanted to help people and make the world a little bit safer."

Phoebe nodded in agreement. "I can understand that," she said. "I wanted to make a difference too, in my own way."

They look in each other eyes they both lean in for a kiss they stop "I'm sorry I don't know if you have a boyfriend or a husband."

"It's fine I don't." she kiss him she lays down in the bed while Ezekiel goes on top of her they kiss and they spent the night together.

[The next morning somewhere on sea]

Private ship swayed gently on the seas. A girl walked up to a door and knocked on it. "Come on, we're going to be late, you know," she called out.

A boy walked by and saw her knocking. "What's wrong?" he asked.

"She won't open the door," she replied, frustration evident in her voice.

"Are you sure she's in there?" he asked skeptically.

"Yes, because it's locked from the inside," she said, walking over to the window to peer inside.

There, sitting in a chair around a table, was the girl they were looking for. But she wasn't moving. "Zach, she's not moving. You need to kick down the door now," she said urgently.

Before he could respond, two others arrived on the scene a boy and a next girl. "Can you help me kick down the door?" zach asked the other boy. "She's in there, not moving."

"Wait, what?" one of the other boy exclaimed, his eyes widening in shock. But he didn't waste any time, joining Zach in kicking down the door.

They rushed inside and found the girl slumped in her chair. One of the boys went around the desk and checked her pulse. His expression grew grim. "Guys, Simone is dead," he said softly.

The girls started to scream and cry, their emotions overtaking them.
