After some speed walking, Sanju reached the gates of the town where a dozen guards wearing some light iron armour and swords placed on their waists standing in front of the gates.
'It's like this world is a complete copy of the magical fantasy world authors back on Earth had envisioned.'
===
Sanju was about to enter the town when one of the guards stopped him.
He looked at the guard and asked, "What's the matter?"
"Show your ID.", said the guard.
'This is not any of the languages I know, but by the look of it, I can understand what they are saying.'
He was afraid earlier that he might have some issues having a conversation with the indigenous people here since he didn't have any skills relating to translation or language. But, they were all for nought.
"ID?"
The guard nodded.
"uh…I don't have one."
After hearing that he did not have an ID, the guard narrowed his eyes a little.
Seeing that Sanju became scared by thinking, 'What if they capture me and place me in a prison?'
'Damn those authors, they didn't mention anything like that. At least not that I remember. They went to an adventurer's guild and viola get an ID.'
"Then pay the toll.", The guard replied.
'okay, he's asking for money but I don't fucking have any coins considering they use them.
And even if there was a system of paper notes, they won't accept the one from Earth(more specifically India)'
Thinking that a wry smile appeared on his face and he scratched his head a bit.
Seeing that the guard understood that the man in front of him didn't have any money or an ID on him.
The guard angrily said, "What are you, a beggar? Get lost! And don't come again without either of them."
Saying that he pushed Sanju.
Sanju didn't go and stood there for a good 5 seconds thinking of a way for him to get out of his predicament.
'no ID and no money; and I can't spend the night out here in open.'
Suddenly, an idea came to his mind and he decided to try it out.
Sanju went ahead and asked the guard, "Hey? Uh, do magicians also have to show you an ID?"
"No, why are you asking that? Isn't that obvious?" the guard replied.
Hearing that remaining of the guards started laughing and one of them said, "haha~Leave him, he must be a country bump-"
'Create Fireball'
he was in the middle of his sentence when Sanju produced a fireball hovering above his right hand.
Seeing the Fireball in front of their eyes, the guards' faces turned pale.
'So the magicians have a high status in this world/country.'
All of the guards suddenly bowed their heads, and the one who stopped him-Shaun-said, "Dear Magician, Please forgive me for my earlier rude remarks. I ask for the kind sir's forgiveness."
Sanju was smiling ear to ear on the inside.
"Move aside now!", he pretended to be angry and walked past them.
After he was far away, Sanju had a sigh of relief.
'Now, I don't think this trick will work to get me a room in any inn. What now?'
'There's not much time before it turns dark now and most probably the adventurers is also closed right now.'
Sanju spotted a passerby and asked, "excuse me"
"Yes?"
"Is it possible for me to get an ID from the adventurer's guild right now?"
"Of course, there's no problem as long as you have the skills." The man answered in a very friendly manner.
"Oh, would you mind directing me towards it?"
After that, the man gave Sanju some directions.
"Thank you." Sanju thanked the man and started walking in the guild's direction.
After some time, Sanju stood in front of a quite big building, bigger than the rest of them, with a board hanging on its door on which there was an insignia of a sword and shield.
"Here we go."
He went inside the building, it was quite nice there with some people sitting on tables on one side, a board with many papers, and half a dozen females(attendants) standing behind desks.
He approached one of them and said, "Hello, I want to register as an adventurer and get an ID."
She replied with a professional smile, "Yes, I am Shina, may I know your name first?"
"I am Sanju"
Shina-"Alright Sanju, if you don't have any problem you can start right away as an F-rank adventurer."
Sanju-"Is there any fee or some kind of charge for the registration?"
Shina-"No Sanju, there's no such thing to become an F-rank adventurer."
-"Then, please register me as one."
Shina took out a paper from the back and started filling it for me. During that, she would ask me some questions which I answered.
It was all basic information-
{
Name: Sanju
Age: 18
Sex: Male
Rank: F
}
"Anything of importance?"
"Yes, I'm a magician."
Hearing that Shina's hand stopped abruptly and she looked into my eyes.
Thinking that she might not believe my words he decided to create a fireball.
Momentarily a confused expression appeared on Shina's face, "Sir Magician if you don't mind me asking, why are you registering as an adventurer?"
Observing his surrounding he found that the people who heard him were looking towards him.
Sanju's mind was suddenly filled with just one question, 'Did I screw up?'
'Daamit, the guards were so respectful, how can it be?'
-"I don't think I understand what you mean."
-"Well, Magicians register at a magic tower or one of their branches not here."
-"Then, are there any branches in the town?"
-"I'm sorry sir but you won't find any in this town."
-"But I need the ID; any way you can help me?"
After a moment of thinking, Shina said, "Maybe the head can help you, he's also a magician."
-"Could you try asking him for me? I really need the ID."
-"Sure, wait here for a moment I'll go inform the head."
Shina went upstairs and Sanju sat on a bench nearby.
