Chapter 142 - Homeward Bound

I let my vision blur as I transported myself to the world of threads.

It was always a weird feeling, like stepping across a veil that only I could see and into a completely different place.

The webs were still the same from when I was here before when I killed Vlad and made sure he couldn't come back to haunt me in the future.

However, this time, there was an extra web, one that glowed bright white without a hint of stain to the threads.

This must be the angels.

But why were their threads of life so pure? Was it because they really had never done anything wrong before? Or was it just because they didn't believe that they had done something wrong?

It was an interesting puzzle, one that I would have to think about later.

I started with the thread far away from me, my sheers cutting through them just as easily as they had with any other being.

I guess angels weren't all that different from any other creature. That was good to know.

Hearing the screams coming from the outside world, I fazed back to the airport. Hopefully, the angels realized that they weren't as untouchable as they thought they were.

Trying to hold back my smile, I let myself relax into Nicholas' body.

"Is there a problem?" I asked, my eyes wide with an innocent look on my face.

The second angel spun around and studied me. "No, there is nothing wrong. Would it be only if I stayed with you for a while? That way, Nicholas can stay in this realm, and we would still be able to fulfill our mission."

I looked up to look at Nicholas and shrugged my shoulders. It really didn't matter to me.

"That is fine. But she is tired and needs to get home. We'll leave as soon as Gabriel and the rest do," smiled Nicholas.

I could tell that Gabriel wanted to argue with him, but the second angel shot him a look.

With one last huff, the rest of the angels disappeared into the night sky. I looked around, trying to see their threads, but the only white one around was the one connected to the second angel.

"Butterfly?" said Nicholas softly and guided me into the plane.

"Where are the others?" I asked, looking around the empty interior.

"Here, Sweetheart," said Greyson as he started to climb up the stairs. "We just wanted to make sure that you got on first."

I smiled, but I was fading fast. This was one of those days that seemed to go on forever.

I needed sleep, chocolate, and ice cream and not necessarily in that order.

Finding a seat that seemed to be comfortable, I sat down and put on my seatbelt. Dom came in after Greyson and quickly took one of the pillows and blankets that I must have overlooked from the front of the cabin and brought it over.

"Get some sleep," he murmured as he laid the blanket over me and placed the pillow under my head. "It will be a little over five hours before we land in New York and then at least an hour before we arrive at your mansion."

I groaned. I really wish that someone could have invented teleportation by now. I wanted to just blink and be where I needed to be. I would give my right arm for that ability.

"Sleep, Princess," said Mathew as he sat down across from me. "We are here."

"Do we have to let Viktor know that there is going to be a new supernatural in his city?" I asked, my eyes already too heavy to lift back up.

I would just close them for a few minutes and worry about the rest later.

----

"She has a point. But angels aren't part of the original six families. I don't think we have to tell Viktor," muttered Dom as he thought about Natalia's question.

"It's fine," answered Nicholas, not really caring. He looked at the angel, Michael, and raised an eyebrow. "Unless he is going to start shit, and then we'll sic The Head of House Van Helsing on him."

"I come in peace," chuckled Michael as he found a seat for himself. "Let's face it, I am the lesser of all evils in this plane."

"Hardly. Nat doesn't have an evil bone in her body," chuckled Levi, grabbing a blanket for himself.

"Are you talking about the interesting creature that managed to kill almost a hundred angels without letting them defend themselves? Not exactly fair now, was it?" smirked Michael, his grin only deepening as he watched the other males around him get their backs up.

"She gave you more warning than you would have given her," said Nicholas. "But I would like to test the theory that you cannot die in this realm, no matter what is done to you. Should we start by removing your tongue and see if it will regrow?"

"Leave it to the demon to progress straight to torture."

"Go near my – Natalia, and we will see just what this demon is willing to do," smiled Nicholas as the flight attendant handed him a glass of whiskey.

"I'll take a coffee," smiled Dom as the woman asked for their orders. Mathew, Levi, and Greyson quickly put in their orders.

"Leave her alone; she needs sleep," said Nicholas quickly as he saw the flight attendant get too close to Natalia. It wasn't that he didn't trust the woman serving them; it was more that he didn't trust anyone near his mate.

"Understood, Sire," bowed the woman as she went to the front of the cabin to get the drinks ready.

"Any clue what we are going to be facing once we get back to New York?" asked Greyson as he took his whiskey from the server.

"Not a clue. Isn't it great?" chuckled Mathew as he, too, took the beer offered. "But Lucas is going to shit a brick knowing that Vlad is dead.

"I don't see Viktor being much happier," shrugged Dom, not at all worried. His Queen currently had a wolf, a Skinwalker, a Knight, and a demon on her side. Viktor could suck it if he weren't happy.
