It didn't take much time on the next day for him to realize that, jail was more than being bullied, homo-transitionary stage or freedom restriction.
Jail was not the place where the cool, hardest guys are made of as they portray when they get out. It was pure hell if he ever experienced one.
Being alone, isolated, with no one to talk to, just sitting uptight before laying down again, eating your meals, go to the toilet and sleep once again.
He was a... what the guards say a 'fresh meat' so, there was no out for him for a few months. Until he learns how to socialize peacefully.
Which was driving him crazy, not that he was one for social events or anything.
But, he felt relieved seeing Vion brought back by two guards later that day all bloodied and all. All he could think was that he wasn't alone anymore. He had someone with him.
"What're you looking at?" Asked Vion, noticing Devine's attention on him.
"You" Replied Devine happily walking to him cautiously when the guards left Vion down there, "You are hurt"
"Limit" Said Vion dodging Devine's curious hands on his face..
"I can help you" Said Devine reassuringly like how he saw the firefighters do everytime they walk in a scene.
"I don't need your help" Said Vion but, was left yet another time speechless when Devine took off his own vest to wipe out Vion's blood from his face and shoulder carefully.
"You were a nurse?" Asked Vion in the dead silent room beside their breathings and heartbeats.
"No. Just a foolish teenager out there" Chuckled Devine, still about his business on Vion's body seriously.
"This is not a place for a kid" Said Vion silently so silent that it reached Devine as a breeze and he was so close to him that he can even feel his body heat.
"This is not a place for anyone" Replied Devine offhandedly.
"No... This is my heaven" Said Vion looking right into Devine's concentrated gaze.
"Then heaven is overrated, don't you think?" Said Devine walking back to his side of the room once he made sure there was no blood coming out of his wounds while, keeping the fact that being beaten to that point was normal in there.
Devine wanted to sleep since, he was anxious the whole time he wasn't alone though, it was clear as day that Vion wanted whatever was going seconds before to last forever but, he held it in and tried to hide that fact. Devine saw through it all.
"I hate to be alone" Started Devine casually but, only he knows what admitting to that did to his stomach.
"Is it when the demons come out to play?"
"It's when I feel most vulnerable since I'm all pretense inside 5and got nothing inside of my own"
"So, you in here to impress someone"
"Are you curious?"
"Just interested"
"in my life?"
"You" Replied Vion with eyes concentrating on Devine's face, "But, YOU are curious. So, I'll give you one chance"
"Did you win?" Asked Devine without hesitation and serious. Like it was on the tip of his tongue that whole time they were together.
"Seriously, that's your question?" Asked Vion shocked before, bursting out laughing. Like really laughed to tears by that. Devine didn't think he said anything funny.
"I just want to console myself that it was at least worth all these wounds on you" Added Devine still serious.
"Why do you care?"
"I don't but, story has it that those who stay together fight side by side in here"
"Lies"
"Why?" Asked Devine curiously only to earn a shrug from Vion before he laid down on his good shoulder coincidentally facing Devine who was busy staring at him the whole time.
"You feel genuine" Said Vion at last before, hiding a yawn. Not really answering or even commenting on Devine's question.
"I went by the name black angel for years so..." Bragged Devine.
"Welcome to hell kid" Said Vion getting more and more sleepy, "This is a place where day dreams are your worst nightmares"
