Chapter 1 - Shadow sand desert

He found himself in the middle of a vast desert.

Patting the sand off his body, he stood up and

looked around. In every direction, he saw an

endless field of sand, stretching to the horizon.

There's no wind.'

Not just wind, looking up, there was no sun, moon or even stars.

An empty sky like black ink spilt across a canvas.

Even stranger was that despite the lack of a visible light source, he had no trouble seeing his

surroundings.

Panicking, he tried to grasp the situation; suddenly, he heard the sound of sand shifting.

ssssssss

The sand beneath his body was sinking.

Using all his remaining strength, he struggled not to be sucked into the whirlpool. As the sunken area became more expansive, he found himself barely escaping it intact.

Pant, pant, pant.

As he sat panting, he looked down into the newly

created depression on the ground. The sand at

the lowest point of the hole was boiling

strangely. He shuddered as he realized a

single misstep would've resulted in him falling

down into that hole.

His eyes narrowed.

It's not boiling.

Taking a closer look, he realized something big

was wriggling beneath the sand at the bottom of

the depression. He stood up instinctively.

Something did not feel right.

Confirming his suspicions, a pillar of sand shot

up from the hole as he was walking backwards.

Shaaaah!

Sounding like a waterfall, the sand fell all around him, revealing what had appeared from the hole.

His eyes widened.

The full form of the monster revealed that it stood at about 20 metres high.

He gulped.

"Why?"

And so, it was an astronomically large existence. A large red centipede towered over him.

The 20 meter tall red desert centipede was a fearsome and imposing creature, with dozens of long, segmented legs that allowed it to move quickly across the sand. Its body was covered in a hard, chitinous exoskeleton that was a deep, rusty red in colour, providing protection from the harsh desert environment.

At the front of the centipede's body were two massive, razor-sharp mandibles that could crush even the toughest of prey. Its many pairs of eyes gleamed a bright, fiery orange, allowing it to see even in the dim light of the desert. The centipede's long, undulating body was dotted with numerous spikes and bristles, serving as both a defensive mechanism and a way to grip the shifting sands.

Despite its fearsome appearance, the red desert centipede was an essential part of the desert ecosystem, preying on smaller creatures and helping to keep the delicate balance of life in the harsh environment.

Escaping from a 20 meter tall red desert centipede would be an incredibly daunting task, given its size and strength. The best course of action would be to avoid the creature altogether, if possible. However, if one found themselves in a situation where they needed to escape from the centipede, there are a few things they could do.

First and foremost, running away would be the best option. The centipede is fast, but it's not as fast as a human. So, putting as much distance as possible between oneself and the creature would be a good start. However, the centipede's many legs allow it to move quickly across the sand, making it difficult to outrun in the long term.

Another option would be to climb up onto a nearby rock formation or any other elevated surface. The centipede's size makes it difficult for it to navigate rough terrain, so climbing to safety would be a good tactic. However, the creature's long, sharp mandibles would still pose a threat to anyone within reach, so caution would be necessary.

Finally, if all else fails, one could attempt to fight the centipede. However, this would be a risky endeavour, as the creature's size and strength would make it a formidable opponent. If fighting is the only option, then using ranged weapons such as bows or magic would be a safer bet than getting up close and personal with the creature.

He grabbed a handful of sand and let it fall. The

sand fell in a straight line to the ground
