"What do you—"
"Are the two of you close?"
I stopped and closed my mouth for a moment. Closely observing the Chief and seeing the seriousness in her expression, I carefully replied,
"It's as close as I'm with the other girls."
"Is that so...?"
"Yes."
I nodded while frowning.
"Why would you think otherwise?"
It was true that I was spending more time with Sarah recently, but it was strictly all work-related.
I didn't see a reason for her to ask.
"Don't get me wrong."
Closing the booklet in her hand, the Chief's expression relaxed.
"I'm not trying to put you on the spot or anything like that."
Find that hard to believe.
"I just want to get everything clear now before it's too late."
"Too late?"
"Yeah. For when the girls eventually become famous. It'd be bad if they had some rumors about them dating someone."
