The feathered flame apes dropped one by one like flies. But no matter how many apes they killed, more would appear from within the forest. It was like the apes were never ending.
'Shadow Spikes!' Zane was no longer on the trees, but on the ground. He expanded his shadow over the area, and sharp spikes extended from the shadow and pierced the bodies of 6 apes surrounding Zane. They spat out blood and died on the spot.
As soon as they died, other apes filled the spots of their dead companions and dashed towards Zane. He had a layer of Shadow Armor over his body to protect himself from their attacks. An ape struck Zane's back, but he ignored it for the time being and attacked the one in front of him.
He stabbed the one in front with his dagger, and quickly turned to the one on the back.
'Shadow Spikes!'
He killed the one striking his back with the dagger, while simultaneously killing the other two to his side with the Shadow Spike.
