In the days that followed, I tried to make a routine.
By day, I was lady of the estate, making arrangements to make my home well my home. And against Sir Terrell's insistence that I rest, I was being taught Fae magick by night.
I was clumsier than I had been when we started but gradually, I got the swing of things, my magick feeling more comfortable in myself.
Each time after a training session, Sir Terrell had me knelt down on the grass, my forehead on the ground, and give thanks. To what, I didn't know, and he hadn't explained.
"Are you going to tell me about the plant you placed behind the estate?" I asked him, and he smiled at me, as if he had been waiting for me to ask.
"It's a Fae plant, or a weak version of it. It's meant to be a sort of a defense spell, and a watcher. It alerts me to people who have no business in being here." he replied, as we slowly made our way back to the estate.
